Fueled by guest appearances from Billy Bob Thornton, and Sharon Horgan, the Thursday, November 14 edition of CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert dominated its 11:35 p.m. counterparts, while posting day to day and week to week audience growth in the process.
Colbert averaged 1,977,000 total viewers with 240,000 P18-49 this past Thursday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +14% in total viewers and +22% among P18-49 from the night before, as well as +3% and +0.4%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s episode.
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! split second place in the 11:35 p.m. timeslot. The Tonight Show averaged 1,173,000 total viewers with 193,000 P18-49. That’s down -18% in total viewers and -4% among P18-49 from the night before, but +10% and +3%, respectively, from the previous Thursday. Ariana Grande, and Michael Bublé were Jimmy Fallon’s guests on the program. Jimmy Kimmel Live!, on the other hand, averaged 1,357,000 total viewers with only 97,000 P18-49 this past Thursday. That’s down -14% in total viewers and -34% among P18-49 from the night before, -6% and -32%, respectively, from the previous Thursday. Ted Danson, and Mikey Madison were Kimmel’s guests. Blxst and Anderson.Paak performed on the program.
Hitting fast-forward to 12:35 a.m., the Thursday, Nov. 14 episode of NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers outperformed its timeslot counterparts, averaging 804,000 total viewers with 129,000 P18-49. That’s down -13% in total viewers and -8% among P18-49 from the night before, +7% but -2%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s episode. Cynthia Erivo, and Brett Goldstein were Meyers’ guests on the NBC program.
Airing after Colbert’s Late Show, After Midnight averaged 616,000 total viewers with 113,000 P18-49 on CBS. That’s up +2% in total viewers but down -11% among P18-49 from the previous night’s episode, -12% and +10%, respectively, from the previous Thursday. Mark Duplass, Kate Micucci, and Pete Holmes were Taylor Tomlinson’s guests on Nov. 14.
Following Kimmel was a new episode of ABC’s Nightline, which averaged 702,000 total viewers with a paltry 54,000 P18-49 at 12:37 a.m. That’s down -7% in total viewers and -17% among P18-49 viewers from the night before, -8% and -38%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s episode.
Lastly, the Thursday, Nov. 14 edition of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show was hosted by Jordan Klepper, and averaged 374,000 total viewers with 87,000 viewers 18-49, per Nielsen live plus same day data. That’s down -27% in total viewers and -17% among P18-49 from Wednesday’s episode (also hosted by Klepper), -10% and +13%, respectively, from the week-ago episode (hosted by Desi Lydic). Klepper’s Thursday night guest was legendary director Francis Ford Coppola.
