Jimmy Kimmel is returning from summer vacation, and ABC is making sure viewers know it.
The network debuted a new promo during Thursday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! touting Kimmel’s return to the show on Tuesday, September 8.
“So much stuff happened while we were off,” Kimmel says at the start of the spot, which mixes clips of the host with appearances from a parade of famous faces, including Jennifer Lopez, Steve Carell, Tom Hanks, and Olivia Rodrigo.
Others are seen offering their own assessments of Kimmel.
“This is the kindest, coolest guy in late night,” John Mulaney says.
“Let me tell you something, Jim. People love you,” Tracy Morgan tells him.
Larry David is somewhat less effusive: “I guess it’s good to see you.”
Meryl Streep, meanwhile, calls Kimmel “a prince.”
“Kimmel is back,” the ad declares. “On air and all in.”
Kimmel has been away from Jimmy Kimmel Live! since late June for his annual summer vacation, with a rotating group of guest hosts filling in behind the desk.
His September 8 return will kick off the show’s 24th season on ABC after an especially eventful Season 23. Kimmel headed into his summer break with Jimmy Kimmel Live! newly atop the 11:35 p.m. ratings race, while the show is also heading into next month’s Emmys a leading contender for Outstanding Variety Series.
It even has the backing of one of its competitors. Stephen Colbert, whose now-concluded Late Show is nominated in the same category, shared a video this week endorsing Kimmel for the award.
