Appearing on Talk Easy With Sam Fragoso, Meyers recalled how Michaels offered him Late Night as if he was continuing a conversation they’d never had—positing (completely in jest) that Lorne has already “talked to himself” about who will succeed him at SNL, “and that person doesn’t know.”
It wasn’t immediately clear why Pompeo’s planned Late Night booking tonight was cancelled. (Goldblum was originally scheduled to appear next Wednesday, June 18th.)
As Dennis Perkins writes of the uneasy marriage between late-night hosts and their corporate bosses under Trump 2.0, “the nightly monologue-watch has become an exercise in seeing if our favorite comics will blink.”
