Jimmy Kimmel Live! to Go Dark Next Week

First it was Stephen Colbert, then came Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers. Now it’s Jimmy Kimmel‘s turn to take a week off in the lead-up to Election Day. (Hey, hosting a late-night show is hard work.)

The host and team behind Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be on vacation all of next week, so prepare for several days of repeat episodes on ABC. Elsewhere, however, there’s lots of late night to get excited about.

On Monday, October 21, both Fallon and Meyers will return with new episodes of The Tonight Show and Late Night, respectively, on NBC. While Fallon will welcome Samuel L. Jackson and Tracker star Justin Hartley (fresh off his surprise appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert), Meyers will sit down with Only Murders in the Building BFFs Steve Martin and Martin Short.

Speaking of Colbert: He’ll be airing fresh episodes, too. But all eyes will be on The Late Show host’s former Comedy Central colleague, Jon Stewart. After his own week (well, day) off, Stewart will be back behind the desk of The Daily Show to chat with Minnesota governor/Democratic VP nominee Tim Walz. It’s a big get for the show, as it’s only the second time Walz has sat down for a late-night interview (his first appearance happened two weeks prior, when he guested on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to much fanfare).

With just over two weeks to go before Election Day, it might seem like poor timing to take a break. But of any late-night host, Kimmel might be the most deserving. While his contentious relationship with Donald Trump has been a wide open secret for years, their feud has really heated up in recent weeks (mostly on the former president’s part).

On a seemingly almost daily basis, the former president has found a way to lash out at several late-night television hosts, including Fallon and Colbert, but saved his real ire for Kimmel, whom he has described as: “one of the dumbest human beings ever,” “a loser,” and a “clown” with “NO TALENT” and “BAD RATINGS” who suffers from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Kimmel’s response to being Trump’s favorite punching bag? “I love this.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live! will return with all-new episodes Monday, October 28.

Jimmy Kimmel is a national treasure. The writers provide him with great material (although they have A LOT to draw from given the political climate and politicians we’re saddled with), and Jimmy’s timing and delivery are perfect.
I also love Guierllmo, he’s a great part of the show.
Keep at it Jimmy and expose the politicians who aren’t making America great!

The late night hosts make the news of the day bearable for me. I turn to them rather than the news these days because I find Donald Trump unbearable now, and can only wonder about anyone considering voting for him.
