Turns out Garth Brooks is playing Jimmy Kimmel, after all.
In a whiplash-inducing turn of events, ABC announced Friday that Brooks’ previously cancelled appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this coming Monday is back on.
It was just three days ago that the show’s ticketing partner 1iota contacted ticket holders with news that Brooks’ planned mini concert outside Kimmel’s studio had been cancelled. Speculation at the time was that it might have to do with the lawsuit filed by the country star’s former makeup artist accusing Brooks of rape and sexual assault. (Brooks has vigorously denied the allegations, but hasn’t been seen in public since about a week after the lawsuit was filed.)
While it’s still not clear why the appearance was cancelled in the first place, Brooks is back on the show’s guest list for Monday November 25th, as is his mini concert on the show’s outdoor stage.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! often includes outdoor performances as part of its program. The outdoor concert stage was brought back in April after having been paused for four years amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The mini-concerts typically have one song performance recorded for air on JKL, with more songs for the show’s social media channels.
Brooks has guested on Jimmy Kimmel Live! five times before, most recently in 2019. Monday’s show is also scheduled to include an interview with actor Drew Starkey, who co-stars with Daniel Craig in the new Luca Guadagnino film, Queer.
