Just days ago, Jimmy Kimmel Live was touting its upcoming Garth Brooks mini-concert set for next Monday. Now, as the singer faces sexual assault allegations and a lawsuit, the taping has been nixed.
JKL ticketing partner 1iota sent an email to ticket holders announcing the show’s cancellation Tuesday. “Unfortunately, the Garth Brooks Outdoor Mini-Concert at Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, 11/25 has been canceled and will no longer proceed as scheduled,” the email read.
1iota had promoted the show just three days ago in an X post that has since been deleted, though a recent Instagram post still remains at press time.
In October, the country singer was sued by a former makeup artist for rape and sexual assault. Brooks denied the allegations in a statement, saying in part, “I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
Brooks hasn’t made a public appearance since mid-October, about a week after the suit was filed.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! often includes outdoor performances as part of its program. The outdoor concert stage was brought back in April after having been paused for four years amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The mini-concerts typically have one song performance recorded for air on JKL, with more songs for the show’s social media channels.
Brooks has guested on Jimmy Kimmel Live! five times before, most recently in 2019. No word yet on whether next Monday’s show will feature another music act in Brooks’ place.
