Stephen Colbert used his “Meanwhile” segment on Thursday night’s Late Show to denounce the FCC’s new guidance on political guest appearances, framing the move as a direct attempt to silence him and his fellow late-night hosts.
“I gotta watch what I say about Trump, because Johnny Law is once again coming after yours truly,” Colbert said as he opened his remarks.
“So let’s talk about these new crackdown rules that my lawyer warned me not to talk about,” Colbert continued, as he read from a New York Times report describing the FCC’s latest move as an effort to enforce “long-dormant rules on appearances by political candidates on network talk shows.”
“Oh no,” he added. “They’ve awakened the long-dormant rules—not seen since the mind-bending horrors of the pre-Euclidean variety show Cthulhu Tonight!”
Colbert then dropped the jokes just long enough to sharpen his point. “This is clearly an attempt to silence me, Jimmy, and Seth,” he said, referring to fellow late-night hosts and Trump administration antagonists Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Meyers.
“I’ve got one thing to say to the FCC,” Colbert continued. “I’m flattered you think that appearing on my show has the power to affect politics in any way, but I’ve been doing this job for 21 years, and let me tell you something, buddy—if our government had turned out the way I had chosen, you would not have the power to make this announcement.”
Colbert’s response came shortly after Kimmel, who briefly addressed the FCC guidance Wednesday, returned to the topic on Thursday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, taking a full four minutes to walk viewers through the history of the equal-time rule and why, in his view, it no longer fits a media landscape dominated by cable, streaming, podcasts, and social platforms.
Kimmel closed his remarks by calling the FCC statement “another example of this administration trying to squash anyone who doesn’t support them by following ‘the rules.’ And we know how much respect these people have for the rules.”
As LateNighter has reported, the FCC’s guidance puts broadcasters on notice that the agency no longer accepts the assumption that late-night talk shows qualify for the exemption that has governed political candidate interviews for nearly two decades.

The marketplace will ultimately decide, but in Stephen’s case, he is already toast.
Colbert is losing tens of millions per year on his shitty show…and that’s all Colbert’s fault.
It means you can take the losses if your product is succeeding well elsewhere! Colbert was giving CBS the ratings they wanted, so they could accept the losses.
Colbert got cancelled, because your Dear Toddler Drumpf wanted him cancelled, for he is a thin skinned diaper baby! Not because he was losing them money!
Don’t you ever get fucking tired of exposing your ignorance on a regular basis, you trailer trash loser?
Is the FCC going to cut out Colbert’s tongue? Cool.

Pretty sure it was Colbert who gave a tongue bath to Mamdani, who supported Hamas, and agreed with a speech that said all Jews should burn in Hell. You know, Nazis.
But Colbert with his tongue cut off will no longer be able to give tongue baths in a few months, but hand jobs to anti-semites will still be available for him
Mandumi is small potatoes who won’t go far! Whereas your Dear Toddler Drumpf is laying waste to everything in America and around the world! You have no fucking clue just how hated he is, because you spend your time with your head up your fucking ass, blaming others for your sad state of affairs in your trailer park!
You and he are due for a hard fall, Mucky Boy! And then, are you still gonna fucking blame others instead of yourself? Of course you will, because you’re dumber than shit and such a whiny little hole to boot!
Again, Mamdani Mamdani agreed with a speech that said all Jews should burn in Hell.
And Colbert supported him…good riddance to Colbert, the Nazi enabler.
That’s why they have many channels. If you don’t like what they are saying…don’t watch! Faux conservative channels (mostly all of them) just repeat buzz words that the administration dishes out. The only news that actually gives both sides views are the network ones. This administration will be talked about for decades as an example of how to not to treat people. I seriously hope the goons lining their pockets get their payback from the citizens they screwed. The lies will catch up with you eventually.
