Live from New York, it’s Please Don’t Destroy!
SNL’s in-house comedy troupe is one of the headlining acts in a week celebrating the grand reopening of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City next month.
Billed as “Please Don’t Destroy & Friends,” the group will perform live sketch comedy alongside some special guests (who have yet to be announced). The show takes place just two weeks before the September 28 start of Saturday Night Live‘s monumental 50th season, for which PDD is expected to return.
The team of Martin Herlihy, John Higgins, and Ben Marshall joined Saturday Night Live as writers in 2021, and also make regular on-air appearances with their PDD-branded shorts.
The group has been plenty busy outside of SNL. They set out on an extensive 25-city tour last summer, and also made their feature film debut in 2023 with Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain. The trio wrote and starred in the film, which was produced by Judd Apatow (and featured Conan O’Brien).
This latest show is part of a week-long run of performances taking place at the new UCB Theatre beginning September 13. The theater, which has moved to a new location in the East Village after closing in 2020, is currently running “preview” shows leading up to the grand reopening.
Also part of the week’s packed lineup are the one-night-only return of The Chris Gethard Show, the return of improv show ASSSSCAT, and a show by 30 Rock actors John Lutz and Scott Adsit.
Please Don’t Destroy & Friends takes place Saturday, September 14 at 7 p.m. at the UCB Theatre. Tickers are available now.
