Nikki Glaser enlisted a murderer’s row of late-night writers for Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards ceremony, and it seems to have paid off.
The comedian, who turned out her first hosting stint in what is expected to be a three-year commitment, has earned near-universal praise for her work emceeing the CBS broadcast, which included a monologue that took jabs at Timothée Chalamet, Adam Sandler, Ben Affleck, and more.
The 82nd Golden Globes show featured writers’ room talent from Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Late Show with James Corden, and others.
Among those credited were: Meyers’ head writer Alex Baze; former Corden writers Mike Gibbons, Lauren Greenberg and Ian Karmel; former SNL head writer Anna Drezen; former A Little Late with Lilly Singh head writer Sean O’Connor; SNL Weekend Update alumnus Mike Lawrence; former Late Night with Seth Meyers writer Andrew Law; longtime Tonight Show with Jay Leno writer Jon Macks; and Matt Whitaker, of both Corden’s Late Late Show and The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.
Glaser, who previously hosted the late-night shows Nikki & Sara Live and Not Safe with Nikki Glaser, has seen her star rise following a breakout performance on Netflix’s The Roast of Tom Brady last year.
Glaser isn’t the only one reaching into late-night’s well of talented writers lately. Jason Kelce hired Jon Glaser and Andy Blitz, both former Late Night with Conan O’Brien writers, for his new ESPN entry They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce.
