They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce

This week on our Inside Late Night podcast, Andy Blitz joins Mark Malkoff to discuss writing for Conan O’Brien, appearing in famous Conan pieces such as Slipnutz, playing Vin Diesel’s brother, and writing on Jason Kelce’s recent late-night show.

Jason Kelce is going out with a bang tonight as ESPN airs the last episode of his five-week late-night tryout, enlisting his Super Bowl-bound brother to make an appearance.

Although ratings for Kelce’s five-week tryout have underwhelmed, that’s apparently not the end-all be-all for ESPN. “For me, it’s going to be a little bit more art than science,” ESPN content head Burke Magnus tells The New York Times. “Do people think it’s good and funny? Does it have the potential to grow?”

Appearing on the Kelce brothers’ New Heights podcast, the SNL alum shared what’s worked for him: “You’ve got to commit sketch-wise to whatever the premise is, and just go for it… The audience will be on your side.”
