Michael Che and Tim Robinson Are Behind The Kid Mero’s New Show

Michael Che is shedding some light on the talk show The Kid Mero is prepping.

Che, who has been staging test episodes for a new late-night show of his own at New York City comedy venues, took to Instagram to tease Mero’s new project. As it turns out, Che is involved in that one, too—as is former Saturday Night Live player Tim Robinson

Robinson, who joined SNL as a featured player in 2012 then moved into the writers’ room the following year, has surged in popularity since departing the series in 2016. In 2019, Robinson and fellow former SNL writer Zach Kanin co-created the popular Netflix sketch show I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson

“We’re doing some fun one-offs to figure some of the kinks out before we tape the pilot,” Che shared to his Instagram alongside a ticket link to the shows at the Comedy Cellar.

Mero quietly dropped a link to those tickets on his social media recently, dubbing the project “A Work in Progress Talk Show with The Kid Mero.”

Che went on to imply that, unlike Mero’s last show, this one is ideally headed for daytime.

“Watch the future of daytime TV,” he wrote.

Mero previously hosted the late-night show Desus & Mero. Meanwhile, Che is poised to begin his eleventh season as co-anchor of “Weekend Update” when SNL’s 50th season premieres on September 28.

On Thursday, September 12, Che and Colin Jost will co-host New York After Dark, a live standup special for Peacock, which marks the first project for Che’s 7F Project production banner.
