CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert captured first place in the late-night TV ratings race for the week of April 8, 2024, both in total viewers and among Adults 18-49.
Excluding repeats, The Late Show averaged 2,380,000 total viewers and 270,000 P18-49 viewers this past week, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. However, compared with the the previous week (starting April 1, 2024), CBS’ 11:35 p.m. offering shed -9% in total viewers and -13% in P18-49 viewers.
Excluding repeats, Jimmy Kimmel Live averaged 1,762,000 total viewers and 201,000 P18-49 viewers for the week of April 8, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s good enough for second and third place, respectively, in the 11:35 p.m. timeslot. Relative to the week before, ABC’s 11:35 p.m. offering shed only -0.1% of its total audience (-1,000 viewers), but lost -8% of its P18-49 audience.
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was the only 11:35 late-night offering to air new episodes each weekday. The show averaged 1,422,000 total linear viewers and 227,000 P18-49 viewers at 11:35 p.m. last week, per live-plus-three data. That represents a +3% gain in total viewers and a +2% gain in P18-49 viewers from the week before.
Fallon’s lead-out, Late Night with Seth Meyers, was the most-watched late-night show in the 12:35 a.m. timeslot. Excluding repeats, Late Night averaged 957,000 total viewers and 138,000 P18-49 viewers in its timeslot this past week, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s -9% and -11%, respectively, from the week prior.
Excluding repeats, CBS’ After Midnight averaged 143,000 P18-49 viewers and 649,000 total viewers this past week, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, in the 12:37 a.m. slot. Compared to the week prior, After Midnight shed -12% in total viewers and -17% in P18-49 viewers.
ABC News’ Nightline averaged 848,000 total viewers and 113,000 P18-49 viewers for the week of April 8. That’s up +1% in total viewers, and +15% in P18-49 viewers from the week before.
Comedy Central’s The Daily Show was hosted by Jon Stewart on Monday, April 8, and correspondent Michael Kosta on April 9 through 11. The show averaged 882,000 total viewers and 177,000 P18-49 viewers for the week, per live-plus-three-data. That’s -17% and -14%, respectively, from the previous week.
