CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert captured first place in the late-night TV ratings race for the week of April 1, 2024, both in total viewers and among Adults 18-49.

Excluding repeats, The Late Show averaged 2,603,000 total viewers and 310,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data.  Compared with what the program averaged the previous week (starting March 25, 2024), CBS’ 11:35 p.m. offering shed -7% in total viewers but gained +12% in P18-49 viewers.

Excluding repeats, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! took second place at 11:35 p.m., both in total viewers (1,763,000) and in P18-49 (218,000), according to Nielsen live-plus-three data. Jimmy Kimmel Live! edged its NBC competition in the latter measurement after the live-plus-three data arrived early this morning. That said, this past week’s JKL ratings are based on just four days of episodes (the show aired a repeat on Friday), whereas its NBC competition went with new episodes each weekday.

ABC’s 11:35 p.m. offering was dark the week before (starting March 25), and did not submit Nielsen viewer data for its repeat airings of prior episodes. However, relative to the most recent week of new episodes (starting March 18, 2024), Jimmy Kimmel Live! was down -3% in total viewers and -2% in P18-49 viewers.

The show averaged 1,385,000 total linear viewers and 216,000 P18-49 viewers at 11:35 p.m. for the week of April 1. That represents a -7% drop off in total viewers and a -5% drop off in P18-49 viewers from the week before.

Additionally, the show finished second in the slot in P18-49 viewers behind its CBS competition. The show’s 155,000 average in demo viewers is -3% from the week before.

The aforementioned CBS’ After Midnight averaged the most P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. (172,000), but the third-most total viewers (738,000) this past week, excluding repeats. The show trended in the right direction, delivering a +19% gain in P18-49 viewers and a +5% in total viewers from the week before.

ABC News’ Nightline averaged 842,000 total viewers and 124,000 P18-49 viewers for the week of April 1. That’s -2% in total viewers, but +6% in P18-49 viewers from the week before — marking back-to-back weeks of P18-49 viewer growth.

The show averaged 1,060,000 total viewers and 205,000 P18-49 viewers for the week of April 1, per live-plus-three-data; +2% and +6%, respectively.
