Late Night Ratings: Tuesday, March 26, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

The Nielsen live-plus-same-day data for Tuesday, March 26 is now in, and CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert won the late night ratings race by a healthy margin.

CBS’ 11:35 p.m. late-night offering averaged 2,332,000 total viewers and 259,000 P18-49 viewers this past Tuesday. In addition to being No. 1 in both measurements, Late Show gained +9% in total viewers and +16% in P18-49 viewers from the day before (Monday, March 25). The program was also up +66% in total viewers and +31% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Tuesday (March 19, 2024), when the Late Show aired a repeat.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon finished second in P18-49 viewers (189,000), and second in total viewers (1,307,000) for the second consecutive day. The program gained +2% in total viewers but shed -12% in P18-49 viewers from the day before, gained +6% in total viewers and +3% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Tuesday episode.

Tuesday’s edition of The Tonight Show featured Maya Rudolph, Pete Townshend, and a performance from The Who’s Tommy .

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! is dark this week. The program aired a repeat of its March 18, 2024 episode this past Tuesday at 11:35 p.m., but did not submit Nielsen data for the telecast.

NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers won the 12:37 a.m. timeslot on Tuesday. The program averaged 830,000 total viewers and 141,000 P18-49 viewers in the hour. That’s up +13% in total viewers and a solid +31% in P18-49 viewers from the day before. It gained +31% in total viewers and +33% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Tuesday’s episode, which was a repeat.

Cecily Strong, Nicholas Galitzine, Greg Davies, Alex Horne, and Kaz Rodriguez were Meyers’ guests on Tuesday’s edition of Late Night.

CBS’ After Midnight averaged 675,000 total viewers and 120,000 P18-49 viewers on Tuesday, March 26, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +8% in total viewers and +14% in P18-49 viewers from the day before. After Midnight gained +13% in total viewers, but surprisingly -12% in P18-49 viewers from the prior Tuesday, when the show aired a repeat.

Shane Torres, Kyle Kinane, Amy Miller appeared on Taylor Tomlinson’s After Midnight this past Tuesday.

ABC News’ Nightline aired an original episode this past Tuesday which averaged 722,000 total viewers but only 75,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That’s a -21% decline in total viewers and a -42% decline in P18-49 viewers from the prior day’s episode, -3% and -31%, respectively, from the prior Tuesday episode.

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show is being hosted by Jordan Klepper Tues through Thursday of this week. His Tuesday, March 26 episode averaged 416,000 total viewers but only 76,000 P18-49 viewers, per live-plus-same-day data. That’s down from yesterday’s Jon Stewart-led episode, as expected. The Daily Show’s most recent original Tuesday episode, co-hosted by Desi Lydic and Michael Kosta, averaged 362,000 total viewers and 82,000 P18-49 viewers on Tuesday, March 12.
