Late Night Ratings: Monday, March 25, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert returned this past Monday with a new episode, and promptly won the late night ratings race.

CBS’ 11:35 p.m. late-night offering averaged 2,132,000 total viewers and 224,000 P18-49 viewers on Monday, March 25, 2024, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s No. 1 at 11:35 p.m. in both measurements, up +64% in total viewers and up +50% in P18-49 viewers from the prior Monday, when the show was dark and aired a rerun.

Stephen Breyer and Justin Thomas were Colbert’s Late Show guests this past Monday, March 25.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon finished second in P18-49 viewers (214,000), and second in total viewers (1,286,000) this past Monday. The program gained +7% in total viewers and +28% in P18-49 viewers from the prior Monday’s original episode.

Shakira, Mo Gilligan, and Dakota Fanning were Fallon’s guests on the Monday, March 25 edition of Tonight Show.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! is dark this week. The program aired a repeat of its March 14, 2024 episode this past Monday at 11:35 p.m., but did not submit Nielsen data for the telecast.

ABC News’ Nightline aired an original episode this past Monday which averaged 912,000 total viewers and 129,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That’s more than NBC and CBS’ 12:37 a.m. offerings (though Nightline airs only for a half-hour). Nightline’s March 25 episode delivered a +2% gain in total viewers and +26% gain in P18-49 viewers from the prior Monday episode.

CBS’ After Midnight and NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers each returned with a new episode on Monday. Both shows were dark the week before.

Late Night finished in second place at 12:37 a.m. on Monday, ahead of After Midnight both in total viewers (737,000) and P18-49 viewers (108,000), per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. The Seth Meyers-led program gained +17% in total viewers and +26% in P18-49 viewers from the prior Monday’s repeat. After Midnight averaged 625,000 total viewers and 105,000 P18-49 viewers this past Monday. That’s up +4% in total viewers but -3% in P18-49 viewers from the prior Monday’s repeat.

Jake Gyllenhaal, Andrea Riseborough, Kaz Rodriguez were Meyers’ guests on Monday’s Late Night, while Chloe Radcliffe, Matt Braunger, Chris Fleming appeared on Taylor Tomlinson’s After Midnight.

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, like the aforementioned shows, was dark last week. TDS returned this past Monday with a new Jon Stewart-led episode, featuring an interview with and musical performance from Gary Clark Jr. Unfortunately, it averaged the smallest Stewart Daily Show audience since his February return to the TDS anchor desk. The March 25, 2024 episode averaged 849,000 total viewers and 167,000 P18-49 viewers, per live-plus-same-day data. Despite the drop-off, Stewart Mondays continue to haul in a far larger audience than what The Daily Show averages when its correspondents are at the desk.
