Late Night Ratings: Tuesday, March 19, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is off this week, and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! took advantage for the second consecutive day.

ABC’s 11:35 p.m. late-night offering averaged 1,511,000 total viewers and 236,000 P18-49 viewers on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s No. 1 on all of late night in both measurements. It’s also down -16% in total viewers, but +5% in P18-49 viewers from the night before (March 18), +7% in total viewers and +50% in P18-49 viewers from the prior Tuesday episode (March 12).

Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson were Kimmel’s guests this past Tuesday, March 19.

CBS aired a Feb. 12, 2024 repeat episode of the Late Show on Tuesday, which beat NBC in both total viewers (1,409,000) and P18-49 (198,000), per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. The Feb. 12 Late Show gained +8% in total viewers and +33% in P18-49 viewers from the previous night’s repeat.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon finished third at 11:35 p.m., both in P18-49 viewers (195,000) and in total viewers (1,228,000). Despite finishing behind both ABC and CBS, Tonight Show saw day-to-day viewer growth, +3% in total viewers, +17% in P18-49 viewers. The week-to-week trend was more mixed, however, as the show shed -17% in total viewers but gained +2% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Tuesday’s episode.

Tracy Morgan, Leslie Bibb, José Andrés, and Adrianne Lenker were Fallon’s guests on the Tuesday, March 19 edition of Tonight Show.

ABC News’ Nightline aired an original episode this past Tuesday which averaged 748,000 total viewers and 109,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That’s down -5% in total viewers but up +11% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Tuesday’s episode.

CBS’ After Midnight and NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers are dark this week and aired repeats of their Feb. 26, 2024 and Jan. 10, 2024 episodes, respectively, this past Tuesday. Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, After Midnight’s Feb. 26 repeat averaged 599,000 total viewers and 137,000 P18-49 viewers (down -1% in total viewers and +27% in P18-49 viewers), while the Jan. 10 repeat of Late Night averaged 634,000 total viewers and 106,000 P18-49 viewers (up +1% in total viewers and +23% in P18-49 viewers) on March 19 at 12:37 a.m.

It appears most of the late-night offerings delivered growth in P18-49 viewers, both on a day-to-day and a week-to-week basis.

The Daily Show is off this week, and the network is re-airing four of Jon Stewart’s Monday shows at 11 p.m. through Thursday. Tuesday’s re-air of The Daily Show Feb. 19, 2024 episode averaged 153,000 total viewers and 24,000 P18-49 viewers at 11 p.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data.
