Late Night Ratings: Tuesday, July 9, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen. 

CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert delivered another dominant 11:35 p.m. ratings win on Tuesday, taking the No. 1 spot both in total viewers and the P18-49 demographic.

The Late Show‘s Tuesday, July 9 episode averaged 1,949,000 total viewers with 238,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +3% in total viewers and +10% among P18-49 from the previous day’s first-run episode; +60% and +72%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday telecast (a rebroadcast). Colbert welcomed Serena Williams, and Andrew McCarthy to The Late Show this past Tuesday.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged 1,341,000 total viewers with 151,000 P18-49 viewers at 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +6% in total viewers and +24% in P18-49 from the previous day’s first-run episode; -2% and -22%, respectively, from the Tuesday before (a rebroadcast). Fallon welcomed  DJ Khaled, Rita Ora, and Hannah Berner to the program this past Tuesday.

With Kathryn Hahn as guest host, the Tuesday, July 9 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 1,085,000 total viewers with 134,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +9% and +40%, respectively, from the show’s relatively low-rated Monday episode. ABC did not submit viewer data for the previous Tuesday’s Kimmel to Nielsen. Hahn welcomed Peyton Manning, and Emma Roberts to the program this past Tuesday. The War and Treaty performed.

Following The Tonight Show, NBC presented a a new episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers at 12:35 a.m., which delivered 769,000 total viewers with 107,000 P18-49 on Monday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. Late Night shed -7% in total viewers but gained +4% in P18-49 from the previous day’s first-run episode; +6% and +8%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday’s telecast (a rebroadcast). Meyers welcomed Rashida Jones, Antony Starr, and Julia Phillips to the program on Tuesday. Kate Schellenbach sat in with the 8G Band.

Following Colbert’s Late ShowAfter Midnight aired a new episode that delivered 698,000 total viewers with 150,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s a solid delivery for the program, +18% and +49%, respectively, from the previous day’s first-run episode; +39% and +49%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday telecast (a rebroadcast). Colton Dunn, Jason Sklar, and Randy Sklar appeared on the Taylor Tomlinson-led program.

Following Kimmel, ABC aired a new episode of Nightline, which averaged 623,000 total viewers with only 54,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +11% in total viewers and flat in P18-49 viewers from the previous day’s first-run episode; +2% but -39%, respectively, from the most recent Tuesday episode.

Desi Lydic and Jordan Klepper are co-hosting The Daily Show‘s Tuesday through Thursday episodes this week, and their Tuesday episode averaged 429,000 total viewers with 97,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -44% and -15% respectively, from Monday’s Jon Stewart-led episode; -11% and -1%, respectively, from TDS’ most-recent Tuesday broadcast (June 25, 2024). Klepper and Lydic welcomed former Daily Show correspondent Aasif Mandvi back to the program on Tuesday, July 9.
