Late Night Ratings: Tuesday, June 25, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen. 

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert split first place in the Tuesday, June 25 late-night ratings race.

Kimmel—the only late-night broadcast offering airing new episodes this week—averaged a timeslot-high 1,583,000 total viewers to go along with 199,000 P18-49 on Tuesday at 11:35 p.m. That’s up +22%, but -17%, respectively, from the day before (Monday, June 24). Relative to the previous Tuesday (June 18), Kimmel improved by +10% in total viewers, but dropped by -16% among P18-49. Martin Short guest-hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live! for the second consecutive night. Jane Lynch, and Jelly Roll were his guests.

CBS presented a rebroadcast of Late Show with Stephen Colbert‘s May 16, 2024 episode this past Tuesday at 11:35 p.m., and it averaged more P18-49 viewers than its late-night counterparts. The Late Show rebroadcast averaged 224,000 P18-49 and 1,432,000 total viewers on Tuesday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +5% in total viewers, and +11% among P18-49 from the previous day’s Late Show (a rebroadcast). Relative to the week-ago episode (new), Tuesday’s telecast fell by -27% in total viewers, but actually improved by +2% in P18-49.

Similar to The Late Show, NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon presented a rebroadcast of its May 16, 2024 episode at 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday. The rebroadcast averaged 1,285,000 total viewers and 187,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -9% and -25%, respectively, from the previous day’s Tonight Show (also a rebroadcast). Relative to the week-ago episode (a new one), Tuesday’s The Tonight Show telecast dropped -2% in total viewers and -11% in P18-49.

Following Fallon, NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers presented a rebroadcast of its June 13, 2024 episode this past Tuesday. The 12:36 a.m. telecast averaged 741,000 total viewers with 104,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +2% in total viewers, but -22% in P18-49 from the previous day’s Late Night (another rebroadcast). Relative to the week-ago episode (new), Late Night dropped -5% in total viewers and -29% in P18-49.

Following The Late Show, CBS presented a rebroadcast of its May 8, 2024 episode this past Tuesday. The telecast averaged 571,000 total viewers with 111,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +1% in total viewers, but -16% in P18-49 from the previous day’s rebroadcast. Relative to the week-ago episode (new), After Midnight dropped by -6% in total viewers, but gained +29% in P18-49.

Following Kimmel, ABC aired a new episode of Nightline on Tuesday its usual 12:35 a.m. timeslot. The program averaged 848,000 total viewers with 104,000 P18-49. That’s up +27% in total viewers, but -25% in P18-49 from the previous day’s episode (which received an NBA Finals ratings halo effect). Relative to the week-ago episode, the June 25 Nightline improved by +14% in total viewers, but dropped by -29% in P18-49.

Lastly, The Daily Show was hosted by Michael Kosta on Tuesday, June 25, and per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, the episode averaged 484,000 total viewers, with 98,000 P18-49. That’s a +6% improvement in total viewers, and a solid +32% improvement in P18-49 from the day before. Relative to the week-ago episode (co-hosted by Ronny Chieng and Desi Lydic), Kosta’s Daily Show is up by +13% in total viewers and +11% in P18-49. New York Times Global Economics Correspondent and author Peter S. Goodman joined Kosta on Tuesday’s Daily Show.
