Late Night Ratings: Monday, April 15, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers are both dark this week, giving their timeslot competition the opportunity to gain viewers; at least temporarily.

CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert kicked off the week of April 15, 2024 by earning first place in the late night ratings race, and delivered week-to-week audience growth in the process.

According to Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, The Late Show averaged 2,117,000 total viewers and 255,000 P18-49 viewers this past Monday. That’s+9 % and +31%, respectively, from the previous Monday episode (April 8, 2024). Salman Rushdie, Anna Sawai, and Terence Blanchard were Colbert’s Late Show guests this past Monday.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! took second place at 11:35 p.m. this past Monday, both in total viewers (1,558,000) and in P18-49 (208,000). JKL gained +14% in total viewers and +2% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday episode. Kimmel’s April 15 guests included fellow late-night host Seth Meyers, and Riley Keough. The Black Pumas performed.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon aired a repeat of its Feb. 16, 2024 episode this past Monday at 11:35 p.m. The telecast averaged 1,133,000 total viewers and 184,000 P18-49 viewers. The episode dropped -6% in total viewers, but managed to gain +10% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday’s new episode.

Late Night with Seth Meyers aired a repeat of its March 13, 2024 episode this past Monday at 12:35 a.m. It averaged 694,000 total viewers and 104,000 P18-49 viewers, which is -15% and -5%, respectively, from the previous Monday’s new episode.

CBS’ After Midnight averaged 658,000 total viewers and 135,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That’s up +12% in total viewers, and +27% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday episode. Hari Kondabolu, Dave Hill, and Liz Miele appeared on Taylor Tomlinson’s After Midnight this past Monday, April 15.

Jon Stewart returned to The Daily Show on Monday, April 15, and the episode drew 742,000 total viewers but just 111,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data.

The 742,000 average at 11 p.m. represents Stewart’s largest audience in three weeks (since March 25, 2024). It’s also a +11% gain from the previous Monday episode. However, the episode’s 111,000 P18-49 viewer average represents Stewart’s smallest Monday audience in the demo since he returned to the program back in February, and is -13% from the Monday prior. New York Times White House and national security correspondent David Sanger was Stewart’s guest Monday.
