If you’re strolling New York City’s SoHo neighborhood around lunchtime this Tuesday, you just might spy The Daily Show‘s Josh Johnson.
Ahead of the Friday-night premiere of his first-ever HBO comedy special, Josh Johnson: Symphony, Johnson announced on Instagram that this Tuesday at 11:45 a.m., “I’m gonna be in SoHo at the corner of Grand & Wooster for something a little different. If you’re around during lunch, come hang out with me and be part of it.”
The attached “flyer” for said appearance is the key art for Johnson’s HBO special, with the added message: “Let’s create a Symphony together as the sidewalk becomes our orchestra on a larger-than-life street piano.”
Lest Johnson’s SoHo stunt turn into a roast of the unfunny kind, he noted in his caption that Tuesday’s temps are “supposed to be above 90°, so if you’re planning to pull up, make sure you dress for the heat and stay hydrated.”
Josh Johnson: Symphony, which was filmed earlier this year at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, debuts on HBO Friday at 8 p.m. ET. While Johnson is best known for sharp, topical stand-up—à la much of which he releases weekly online—he takes a different approach with Symphony, delivering an all-new hour centered on universal themes like family, religion, and relationships.

Johnson is in the midst of a busy 2026. In addition to taping his HBO special and juggling his Daily Show writer/anchor/correspondent duties with his regular stand-up dates, he recently hosted the 30th annual Webby Awards, and was just announced as part of the voice cast for the CG-animated kids’ flick CoComelon: The Movie.
