Jimmy Fallon and his house band The Roots are set to take part in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the 10th time.
The Tonight Show host’s November 28 performance is expected to incorporate one or more songs from his new album, Holiday Seasoning, which includes two tracks featuring The Roots: “Hey Rudy” and “New Year’s Eve Polka (5-4-3-2-1).”
Given Holiday Seasoning’s star power, it’s also possible one of Fallon’s duet partners might perform with him during the parade. Among those featured on the album are Meghan Trainor, Justin Timberlake and Will Ferrell.
For the first time since 2010, Fallon and The Roots will be riding on the Santaland Express, a train-shaped float that has been included in most of the annual Macy’s parades since 1985. The past two years saw the group perform on the Winter Wonderland in Central Park float, with their song of choice in 2022 having been the future Holiday Seasoning track “Almost Too Early for Christmas.”
Fallon and The Roots made their Thanksgiving Day Parade debut in 2009, almost nine months after launching Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Their first float was sponsored by Gibson Guitars, as was another they rode in both 2012 and 2017.
Fallon’s upcoming parade appearance will be followed by the NBC special Jimmy Fallon’s Holiday Seasoning Spectacular, airing Wednesday, December 4 at 10 PM ET. The one-hour program will be immediately preceded by NBC’s annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center special hosted by Kelly Clarkson.
