Seth Meyers Sets Late Night Return—With Kelly Clarkson

Seth Meyers has booked a fitting guest for his Season 14 premiere: Kelly Clarkson, who’s starting a new chapter of her own on NBC the very same night.

Late Night with Seth Meyers will return Monday, September 21, ending a record seven-week break.

Clarkson’s appearance will come just three weeks after she wrapped her seven-season run on The Kelly Clarkson Show, which aired its final episode August 31.

Earlier that evening, Clarkson will return to The Voice for the show’s Season 30 premiere, rejoining a series she knows well after six seasons away from the red chair. She’ll coach alongside Adam Levine, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green.

Clarkson history with Meyers, too.

She’s appeared on Late Night eight times, including a memorable 2018 edition of Meyers’ “Day Drinking,” which saw the two knock back a series of increasingly elaborate drinks, take a version of President Trump’s cognitive test, and culminate with Meyers serenading Clarkson with an off-key rendition of “Since U Been Gone.”

Meyers, meanwhile, made seven appearances on The Kelly Clarkson Show over the course of its run.’

In a sign of the times, Late Night has been off the air since July 30. Meyers hasn’t been entirely absent, though: In August, he and “A Closer Look” supervising writer and producer Sal Gentile launched A Closer Look: Out of Office, a twice-weekly video podcast in which the two catch up on news they might otherwise have covered on the show.

Clarkson is the only guest announced so far for Monday’s premiere. Visit our lineups area for updated guest listings for all the late-night shows and subscribe to our daily newsletter to receive stories like this in your inbox.
