The Daily Show viewers hoping to see Jon Stewart weigh in on Donald Trump’s promise to send every American adult a $5,000 “dividend” if Republicans retain control of Congress will have to wait. With the Comedy Central series dark Monday night so that the show’s staff could attend the Emmys, Josh Johnson will serve as the show’s sole host this week.
Johnson kicks off the show’s three-night week tonight with actor and producer Danielle Brooks, who will discuss her new film If I Go Will They Miss Me.
On Wednesday, Johnson will welcome former Super Bowl quarterback, bestselling author, and civil rights activist Colin Kaepernick, who will promote his memoir The Perilous Fight.
Johnson will wrap up the week Thursday with Giri Nathan, staff writer and cofounder of Defector Media and author of Changeover: A Young Rivalry and a New Era of Men’s Tennis.
This week’s run will mark Johnson’s fifth week at the desk this year. Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic, and Jordan Klepper lead the rotating hosts with six weeks apiece, while Ronny Chieng trails with four. Johnson last hosted the week of June 22.
The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central and is available to stream the next day on Paramount+.
