The late-night herd has thinned even further as August enters its final full week. Jimmy Fallon is now off until September 8, joining Seth Meyers, The Daily Show, Watch What Happens Live, and Byron Allen’s CBS late-night block on the sidelines. That leaves just one traditional late-night show in originals this week—and even that one comes with an asterisk: Jimmy Kimmel Live! is new, but with Jelly Roll in the guest-host chair.
Here’s who’s on and off the week of August 24, 2026:
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
On, with guest host Jelly Roll. Jimmy Kimmel remains on his annual summer vacation, but Jimmy Kimmel Live! is back in originals with Jelly Roll closing out the show’s summer guest-host run.
It’s the singer-songwriter’s second turn guest-hosting for Kimmel, after he filled in for two nights last summer. This time, he gets the full week.
Jelly Roll opens Monday with Glen Powell and Jay Shetty, followed by Henry Winkler and Leanne Morgan on Tuesday. Nathan Fillion visits Wednesday, along with Juicy J and Project Pat, who will also perform with Lecrae. Leslie Mann and Bert Kreischer close out the week Thursday. Sara Niemietz is scheduled to sit in with The Cletones throughout the week.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! is set to go dark next week, with Kimmel himself expected to return Tuesday, September 8.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
Gone. Jimmy Fallon is now off until September 8, leaving The Tonight Show in repeats for the next two weeks.
Comics Unleashed
Gone. Both nightly installments of Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen airing in CBS’ late-night block remain in repeats this week. CBS is expected to resume airing first-run episodes in the show’s first half hour on September 21.
Funny You Should Ask
Gone. The second hour of Byron Allen’s CBS late-night block also remains in repeat mode. Funny You Should Ask has been airing repeats in both of its half hours since assuming CBS’ 12:35 a.m. slot in late May. As LateNighter has reported, the show headed back into production earlier this month, with new episodes set to start airing in the show’s first half hour on September 21.
Late Night with Seth Meyers
Gone. Seth Meyers remains off this week as Late Night continues its unprecedented seven-week break. The show is scheduled to return with new episodes September 21.
Nightline
On. ABC’s late-night newsmagazine is scheduled to continue airing new episodes this week.
The Daily Show
Gone. The Daily Show remains dark through the month of August. The series is scheduled to return with new episodes September 8, with alternate programming airing in its timeslot.
Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen
Gone. Andy Cohen’s Bravo clubhouse remains dark this week, with Watch What Happens Live taking another week off.
Gutfeld!
On. Gutfeld! is scheduled to continue with new episodes throughout the summer, using guest hosts when needed.
Real Time with Bill Maher
Gone. Bill Maher is off this week, with Real Time beginning a late-summer break.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
Gone. John Oliver is also off this week. Last Week Tonight returns with new episodes September 20.
Saturday Night Live
Gone. No change here: Saturday Night Live remains on summer hiatus after closing out Season 51 in May. The show is set to kick off Season 52 on September 26, 2026, with repeats continuing in the meantime.
