Greg Gutfeld to Make Tonight Show Debut Next Week

First on LateNighter: The host of Fox News’ late-night–styled show Gutfeld! is set to make his first-ever appearance on a traditional network late night show.

NBC has confirmed that Greg Gutfeld will be Jimmy Fallon’s guest on The Tonight Show next Thursday, August 7.

Known for his provocative, right-leaning humor and combative on-air persona, Gutfeld has long positioned himself as a foil to network late-night hosts like Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, and Jimmy Kimmel—frequently mocking the trio as interchangeable liberal mouthpieces.

Fallon, whose Tonight Show has focused more heavily on music, games, and celebrity banter than politics, has traditionally shied away from overtly partisan bookings. Gutfeld’s appearance may indicate a willingness to engage a broader ideological mix of guests—or may simply be a high-profile ratings play.

Gutfeld! launched in April 2021 as a hybrid of monologue-driven commentary and panel discussions, blending political takes with punchlines. The show now draws the most total viewers across all of cable TV in his 10pm ET/7pm PT timeslot, and is the frequently highest rated show across all of cable news among viewers 25-54.

Gutfeld! also routinely draws a larger audience than any of the traditional broadcast late night shows.

Though next Thursday’s Tonight Show visit will mark Gutfeld’s first appearance on a network talk show, prior to starting his own show on Fox News, he guested on The Daily Show in 2016 when it was hosted by Trevor Noah. That same year, he also made an appearance on Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.

Gutfeld will not be Fallon’s lead guest on Thursday. That slot will go to the Jonas Brothers, who will be making their first joint appearance on the show sinve 2023. Fallon is also scheduled to welcome musical guest Good Charlotte that night.

bleep him and Fallon…Fallon’s already by far the worst host on late night and now he’ll stroke the hair of this right-wing gerbil….must not-see tv

    1. Mark Anderson says:

Are conservatives not allowed on broadcast late-night tv?

Speaking of hair, Fallon hasn’t won an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Talk Series since 2016.

Is it because the Emmy voters really hold a vendetta against helping Republicans?

      1. Fard says:

No, I’m sure that if Dennis Miller wanted to make an appearance on the “Tonight Show”, he’d be welcomed warmly by a lot of people (especially by Jimmy, since he was a massive “SNL” fan during Miller’s time on Weekend Update). Not sure why Dennis would want to be on the show, since he is semi-retired.

Emmy voters just didn’t think the “Tonight Show” was the best of the crowd of shows nominated. Most of the time, the “Tonight Show” in the post-Carson era either didn’t win or weren’t even nominated at all. Leno’s show only won “Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series” only once over 20+ years in 1995. Fallon’s “Tonight Show” won for “Outstanding Interactive Media” in 2015, but yes, he wasn’t included in the list of nominees for “Outstanding Variety Talk Series” since 2016. In 2017, “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” and the “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” got nominated, and pretty much bumped Fallon’s “Tonight Show” out of the top 6 shows up for nominations. In 2020, the field shrunk to 5, then to 4 in 2024, and now it’s at 3. I don’t think the crew of the “Tonight Show” are really focusing on winning Emmys anyway. I’m sure they’d think it’s nice if they were nominated, but that’s not their main driving force.

      2. Mark Anderson says:

Never said it was the main driving force, but rather they liberal crazies at the Emmys still blame Fallon for electing Trump in 2016 and have kept this 9-year vendetta against him going.

And Colbert has hundreds of Democrats on his show, hence cementing the fact that his show was just little more than another Democrat party media outlet.

      3. Victor the Crab says:

Sure they are, you retarded cunt! They’d be just terrible and attract an audience with a combined IQ atroom temperature! Like Gutfool!

      4. Victor the Crab says:

Lame ass response to Fard, retard! But you always have been a thin skinned little cunt!

    2. AldoVit says:

Actually Jimmy Kimmel is the worst after Colbert. Sorry!

  2. BAdams says:

Colbert is available in a few months. Time for an upgrade on The Tonight Show?

    1. Grandma says:

Time for Colbert to go away!

      1. Victor the Crab says:

Time for you to die, granma!

    2. Al says:

      Exactly

      1. KPB says:

GG is just a Rush Limbaugh redo. No Thanks.

I’d like to see Conan back on late night TV.

  3. Cam says:

10pm is prime-time, not late night. Gutfeld is competing against CSI and Chicago PD, not Colbert, Kimmell, and Fallon.

    1. Anna says:

Colbert, Kimmel, and Fallon have all gone downhill. They are opinion only shows and not entertaining. I enjoy my extra hour sleeping in bed and not falling to sleep in the chair from boredom during “late night shows”. I’ll take the Gutfeld Show anyway over your so called “late night”.

      1. Victor the Crab says:

Because you’re a fucking retarded cunt that doesn’t know what good entertainment is!

  4. Corrie-luv says:

I think this headline broke me enough to comment; no shade to Fallon, because the Internet has been punching him down now that Corden is gone, but ever since he stroked Lord Dampnut’s hair, I’m not very sure why of this decision and where this appearance is leading towards~

It’s the equivalent of inviting the bully of the late night roster, even tho he technically DOES NOT count since he airs at 10PM, and the night late fandom already has a compromised bully in Maher and we really don’t need another one, PLEASE~

  5. Daniel F Baran says:

Gutfeld, the long time King of Late Night, small but not a dictator, will try to help somebody named Fallon get his little NBC start up show get started. He’s always been willing and able to use his celebrity and genius to turn unknowns into knowns. He does it every night on Fox News and now he’s just branching out.

    1. Jackpine Savage says:

Hate to break to to you, little Gomer, but 10 pm is not late night, unless you’re living in a nursing home.

    2. Victor the Crab says:

Only smooth brained goobers like you find Gutfool entertaining!

  6. Jana says:

    Awesome!!!!!

  7. gen says:

This is Jimmy’s chance to actually earn some credibility. Take the MF’er down…..

    1. Corrie-luv says:

Now that I’ve thought it over, you got a point; THIS is gonna be the real test for Fallon

“Try not to laugh at Gutfeld’s punching down jokes Challenge”

He doesn’t have to be rude or dismissive (it’s Fallon y’all, c’mon), but he definitely has to stand his ground against Gutfeld if he crosses the line with his “jokes”

      The key word is “self-control”🤞🏽

  8. Heeeeeeeeere's Fard! says:

No one gets bumped from talk shows anymore. The folks at the “Tonight Show” have an opportunity to do something next week…

    Bump Gutfeld and reschedule.
On the new night, bump him again.
    Repeat.

Make him to the “Tonight Show” what Matt Damon is to “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, but without the warmth and all the spite.

Gutfeld and his ilk aggresively insult late night talk shows like Fallon’s. People could say that “they’re just joking”, but the way some of the panelists (especially GOP strategists and the like) talk about them, they seem pretty serious. I really do not see why Jimmy and his team would bring Gutfeld on. Will Greg participate in one of Fallon’s games or pre-taped sketches? What is the long-term end goal for doing something like this?

Seth Meyers was asked in an audience Q&A if Trump would ever go on his show. Seth said that Trump would never want to be on his show, but he also mentioned that there was a point in 2015 or so where DJT almost did make an appearance. Trump canceled at the last minute. In retrospect, Seth is relieved because this was at a time when Trump wasn’t taken very seriously, but Seth takes being a host very seriously, so there would have been a record of Seth being chummy with Donald. And that would haunt him. I’d say it would haunt him like the hair tussle does with Fallon.

As much as I appreciate what Fallon does on his show (though I feel sometimes the execution can vary in effectiveness), I don’t think his approach to interviews would prep him for an appearance from Gutfeld. I’m sure he’ll be cordial to Greg, but hopefully he won’t laugh at every joke Gutfeld makes— especially if it’s a dig at the “Tonight Show” or some really off color remark like when talked about “taking back” the term “Nazi” on his show a week or so ago.

This seems like a horrible mistake. A mistake along the lines of Rush Limbaugh guest hosting Pat Sajak’s show. You want to talk about alienating an audience, Jay Leno? The audience was so incensed and angry, they were cleared by the staff in the middle of the taping, and Rush did the remainder of the show to the crew members. Sajak’s show never recovered from that.

    1. Shawna Fisher says:

You know, most people don’t take this shit that seriously, that you do is a tad odd. I just look at it like a guy that does a very successful show is going on another show, and I’m curious about how it is going to go. You see the difference is that if Gutfeld had a liberal on, I wouldn’t melt down like a 2 year old, I’d be curious about what he had to say. The left are a bunch of infants that need a blankie, safe space and echo chamber. You people are seriously a sad sack.

      1. Fard says:

You’re on a website that caters to fans of late night television. If you feel that my passion about a potentially disastrous booking on a late night television show is odd, you might want to try another web site. But no, you just want to insult people who disagree with you with all the boilerplate terms like “safe space”. You do you, buddy.

      2. Brian Yacker says:

I’ll laugh if he goes on and the 2 just talk random nonsense and have fun with 0 politics

    2. Good Night with Fard Muhammad says:

Oh, and get ready for the YouTube comment section of the Gutfeld “Tonight Show” appearance to be filled with people saying how much they miss Johnny Carson over and over again, how they don’t watch late night shows anymore because of whatever reasons, and more or less drag Fallon under the bus vociferously and with plenty of typewriter-era capital letters.

But he’s been off the air for longer than his tenure as the host of the “Tonight Show”, and he’s been dead for 20 years. If one’s opinion of late night is that it’s Carson or nothing, one has missed out on some great comedy since 1992.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Johnny. We all do. I saw his last episode live on air. My mom recorded a segment of his show on a tape recorder when I was a toddler, and played it all the time. My respect for Carson as a talk show host and the template that all talk shows (since and to come) have either adapted or deconstructed from is in my ever-loving bones. Though I have at least a modicum of respect for anyone who attempts to do a late night style show (even ones that shows at 7pm in Los Angeles), Gutfeld is no Johnny Carson. No one is, and no one will ever be.

    3. Rocket says:

None of those three idiots are a match for Gutfeld , greg will eat him alive.

      1. Victor the Crab says:

        So you fucking wish, retard!

  9. Deborah Beaty says:

    Greg Gutfeld. Yes!

    1. Victor the Crab says:

      To retarded cunts like you!

  10. Mark Anderson says:

Why would Gutfield be potentially disastrous but having a Nazi like Mamdani isn’t?

    1. Victor the Crab says:

Why would a retarded cunt like you think that was a good question to ask?

  11. Al says:

Gutfeld is a little lying weasel.

  12. David Fillenworth says:

Since I stopped watching the tonight show, Gutfeld is my go to show. I’m 70. It’s got the best of late night humor for me.

    1. Victor the Crab says:

That’s because you have no sense of humor, retarded cunt!

  13. Sandy says:

I have not watched late night TV since Johnny Carson left the show, that seemed to be the end of FUN late night shows worth staying up to watch.
AND now, see the nasty remarks of the Left-wing lunatics who have ruined the Democrat party with their Hate & vitriol….While claiming to be the party of inclusion convinces me that I am not missing a thing but hate full remarks and put downs of anyone that does not toe their line. Like the nazis that they call everybody else.
I am sure that even John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson would be appalled at how far down in the gutter the Dem party has gone.

    1. Victor the Crab says:

Oh go fuck off, bitch! You don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about!

If anything, the late night hosts went out of their way to attack Biden and Democrats, while not saying a bad thing about Bernie the Bum, who helped put Drumpf in the White House by demanding Democrats give him the nomination he was nowheres close to winning. His lemmings took that to heart and didn’t vote for Hillary which helped Drumpf win the presidency!

And why don’t you just admit that you hate black people? Because that’s who the base of the Democratic Party is! The party you project Republican hate onto, because you don’t want to think for yourself!

I got a good mind to slap your fucking face until your head falls off!
