Conan O’Brien Is Behind a New Ted Danson-Woody Harrelson Podcast

Team Coco’s podcast lineup is expanding, and its latest offering is bound to make nostalgic TV fans happy.

A recent profile of O’Brien by The Hollywood Reporter mentions that Team Coco’s slate includes a show starring former Cheers costars Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson (and even that the two actors have their own shelf in the company fridge).

While the podcast hasn’t yet been officially announced, artwork and a series description for the show—“Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson (sometimes)”—can be found on SiriusXM’s media site.

“This podcast is a chance to reconnect, both with each other and the amazing friends they’ve each met over the decades—that is, when Ted can get a hold of Woody”, the show description teases. “Join them as they dig beyond the career highlights and into the stuff of life that makes us who we are.”

Danson first let slip that he and Harrelson were working on a podcast together during a session at last year’s ATX TV Festival. At the time, there was no mention of O’Brien’s involvement.

It doesn’t sound like the series will be a straight rewatch podcast, but Danson has suggested that Cheers will be a topic of conversation. “We’re going to celebrate Cheers, our memories…,” he said during his ATX panel appearance. “We don’t really know each other after thirty years of not being together everyday, so we’re catching up with each other… The truth is we’re having a ball.”

While Cheers is best known for ruling prime time over (much of) its eleven-year run on NBC, it also made its mark on late-night TV. The series finale in May 1993 was followed by a broadcast of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno live from a Cheers cast party at Boston’s Bull & Finch Pub (which was used for the exterior of Cheers in the sitcom). The show went off the rails as the show’s cast members were quite inebriated even before it began. Leno later called the entire episode “a mistake.”

Team Coco already produces another podcast celebrating a popular sitcom: the Parks & Recreation rewatch podcast, “Parks and Recollection.”

In 2022, Sirius XM bought O’Brien’s Team Coco podcast network for a reported $150 million and signed O’Brien himself to a five-year contract. His flagship podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” is said to command upwards of 9 million downloads a month.

O’Brien’s latest project, the comedy docuseries Conan O’Brien Must Go, premieres April 18th on Max.
