CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! earned wins on a unique, repeat-filled Thursday, April 25, 2024.
CBS aired The Late Show’s March 26, 2024 episode this past Thursday at 11:35 p.m., and the telecast averaged 1,618,000 total viewers and 166,000 P18-49 viewers. Relative to the previous day‘s repeat telecast, The Late Show gained +43% in total viewers and +25% in P18-49 viewers. However, the program shed -32% in total viewers and -29% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Thursday episode (a new one).
ABC aired Jimmy Kimmel Live! at 12:31 a.m. this past Thursday. The program (a repeat of the show’s April 17, 2024 episode) was pushed back due to ABC’s 2024 NFL Draft first round primetime coverage. Despite being a repeat, JKL’s Thursday telecast received a substantial bump in P18-49 ratings thanks to the NFL Draft lead-in, averaging a late night-high 254,000 viewers. Jimmy Kimmel Live! also averaged 1,091,000 total viewers, more than other 12:30 a.m. programming, but a smaller total audience than its usual 11:35 competition. The telecast’s 254,000 P18-49 viewers is +24% from the day before and +49% from the Thursday before, while its 1,091,000 total is -42% from the day before and -32% from the Thursday before (when the show aired in its usual 11:35 p.m. slot).
NBC aired The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’s Feb. 29, 2024 episode this past Thursday at 11:35 p.m. It averaged 1,132,000 total viewers and 196,000 P18-49 linear viewers. That represents a +9% improvement in total viewers, and an +11% improvement in P18-49 viewers from the day before (also a repeat). The show shed -12% in total viewers but gained +18% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Thursday’s episode (again, a repeat).
Following The Tonight Show, NBC aired a repeat of Late Night with Seth Meyers’ April 2, 2024 episode. The telecast averaged just 535,000 total viewers and 87,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:36 a.m. That represents a -17% in total viewers and a -24% decline in P18-49 viewers from the day before, a -31% in total viewers, and a -33% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Thursday’s episode, another repeat.
Unlike most of its late-night competitors, After Midnight aired a new episode Thursday, April 25. The episode averaged 630,000 total viewers, and 103,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That’s up +31% in total viewers and +18% in P18-49 viewers from the day before, but -1% in total viewers, and -19% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Thursday episode. Moshe Kasher, Jason Ritter, and Chloé Hilliard appeared on the Taylor Tomlinson-led program.
Following Jimmy Kimmel Live!, ABC’s Nightline averaged 710,000 total viewers and 165,000 P18-49 viewers at 1:33 a.m. That’s -10% in total viewers, but +63% in P18-49 viewers from the day before, -13% in total viewers but +40% in P18-49 viewers from the Thursday before.
Ronny Chieng and Jordan Klepper’s final night of the week as Daily Show co-hosts drew an average of 380,000 total viewers and 83,000 P18-49 viewers at 11 p.m. That’s -8% and +15%, respectively, from the day before. It’s also +2% and -1%, respectively, from the prior Thursday episode, hosted by Dulcé Sloan.
