Giant Sign from Colbert’s Late Show Set Added to Charity Auction

Now this is big. Literally.

When it was announced that Jon Stewart would be stopping by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to co-host “Late Show Home Shopping”—a recurring segment that updates viewers on the “clearance sale” that benefits chef José Andrés’s World Central Kitchen—you had to ask yourself, “What is left to auction off?”

As the saying goes, “Everything must go.” In this case, the “The Late Show With” sign that measures 12′ wide x 8’6″ high, and adorns the 11-year-old series’ set at the Ed Sullivan Theater.

“Buy this,” Colbert said during the segment, “and, like me, you can have The Late Show hanging over your head for the rest of your life.”

Stewart sweetened the pot by throwing in… an autographed Daily Show mug, which he valued at a spit take-worthy $20. Colbert matched that with an autographed Late Show mug, and then started the ask for the trio of items at a very reasonable $19.99. Note, “Buyer must arrange for pickup from the Ed Sullivan Theater between June 1-5, 2026.”

Also added to the auction is the Late Show “guest entrance” red carpet, bundled with a “Jon Stewart” wig that emulates his long-ago look on The Daily Show.

Colbert debuted the show’s pre-finale charity auction in December. The first round—which saw his COVID-era desk go for $14,800, and two VIP tickets to the Late Show finale sell for $111,100—resulted in a payout of $169,727.99 to World Central Kitchen. A second leg brought in close to $40,000 more.

A third lot of items announced by Colbert in late January on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers—a stolen rug from Capitol Hill, and several Late Night cue cards—fetched nearly $14,500. A February batch brought in nearly $90,000 worth of bids, with several (including the guest chair, and the aforementioned Late Show prop closet raid) fetching five-figure price tags.

In mid-March, Colbert announced a few more auction items, including a pair of “Air Lithgow” sneakers the show made for a fake commercial (and which he had signed by John Lithgow himself), and the tuxedo he wore to “perfectly pleasant”-ly host the Emmys in 2017 (also autographed).

For those who “don’t want in on the auction but want in on the action,” Colbert revealed a commemorative “The Last Show with Stephen Colbert” T-shirt that can simply be purchased. Those sell for $40, with the net proceeds going to World Central Kitchen. As of March 31, more than 29,000 tees had been sold, bringing the charity auction’s grand total close to a full million dollars.
