The Daily Show Reveals Season 30 Finale Week Plans

Ronny Chieng, Desi Lydic, and Michael Kosta will help wrap The Daily Show’s 30th season this week, with each taking turns in the show’s anchor chair.

First, though, Jon Stewart will host his final broadcast of the year tonight, with the show’s regular Monday host sitting down with Pakistani education activist Malala Yousafzai. It will be Yousafzai’s fourth time guesting on the Comedy Central series overall—and her first since a 2019 visit with Trevor Noah.

Stewart memorably recalled an earlier Yousafzai visit to the show while eulogizing his dog, Dipper, in March 2024. In his remarks, Stewart noted that Dipper, who frequently accompanied him to The Daily Show‘s studio, had met actors, authors, presidents and kings, adding that “he did what the Taliban could not do—which is, put a scare into Malala Yousafzai.” (Yousafzai later sent condolences via social media, calling Dipper “a very good boy.”)

Tonight’s episode will be followed by the half-hour special Jordan Klepper Fingers the Pulse: Give the Man a Prize.

Tuesday through Thursday will see the show pick up where it left off last week, handing over hosting duties to three of the show’s senior correspondents.

On Tuesday, Ronny Chieng will welcome journalist and author Cory Doctorow, who’s promoting his book Enshittification: Why Everything Suddenly Got Worse and What to Do About It.

On Wednesday, Desi Lydic returns to the Daily Show desk for the second time in two weeks, having hosted last Tuesday’s episode. Lydic will be joined by photographer Annie Leibovitz, whose updated 2025 edition of her landmark photo book Annie Leibovitz: Women was released in November.

And on Thursday, Michael Kosta will host the show’s Season 30 finale with guest Lonnie Thompson, a paleoclimatologist whose work was profiled in the 2023 documentary Canary.

Following Thursday’s episode, The Daily Show is set to go dark for three weeks. It’s expected to return Monday, January 5, with Stewart and the show’s entire news team reportedly signed on through the end of 2026.

Daily show has too many vacation for only working 4 days a week maybe everyone is over paid where they do not need to work all the time it is a shame not to rely on it being on

  2. Pauline Perez says:

The Daily show is my weekly fix of humor. The writers are exceptional, and I love all the personalities. However, I don’t think John Stewart should stay on. I once loved him as a host but now he seems to milk the comedy with faces and pauses. I think Jon should have his own political show.
