Continuing a week-long trend, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! once again saw strong week-over-week ratings growth last Thursday night. But unlike on Monday and Wednesday nights, it wasn’t enough to top CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert among total viewers at 11:35 p.m., nor was it enough to pull out out of third place among viewers aged 18-49.
Colbert averaged 1,689,000 total viewers with 211,000 P18-49 Thursday November 21st, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s down-1% in total viewers and +2% among P18-49 from the night before, and -15% and -12%, respectively, from the previous Thursday night’s episode. Colbert’s guests Thursday were Hakeem Jeffries and Jeffrey Wright.
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon split second place in the 11:35 p.m. timeslot.

That’s down -11% in total viewers and -15% among P18-49 from Wednesday night (which saw Kimmel win the timeslot with an assist from a strong CMA Awards lead-in), but up +18% and +100%, respectively, week-over-week. Kimmel’s guests Thursday night were Jim Gaffigan and Jason Kelce. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also made an appearance via satellite that was featured in promos and at the top of the episode.
The Tonight Show averaged 1,153,000 total viewers with 202,000 P18-49. That’s down -19% in total viewers and flat among P18-49 from the night before, and -1.7% but +4.7%, respectively, from the previous Thursday. Gwyneth Paltrow and DJ Khaled were Fallon’s guests, and TV on the Radio performed.
At 12:35 a.m., the Thursday, Nov. 21 episode of NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers outperformed its timeslot counterparts, averaging 868,000 total viewers with 159,000 P18-49.
