Following a week-long break, Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to originals last week and substantially widened its ratings lead at 11:35 p.m.

According to Nielsen Live+3 data, Kimmel averaged 2.63 million total viewers for the week of Oct. 25, up 45 percent from the previous frame, while growing 24 percent among adults 18–49 to 288,000. The show aired four new episodes and one repeat.

Kimmel’s highest-rated night came Monday, when the show followed Monday Night Football and drew 3.3 million total viewers and 431,000 adults 18–49.

NBC’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, meanwhile, moved in the opposite direction. With the same mix of four originals and one repeat as the week before, Fallon averaged 1.30 million total viewers, down 10 percent, and 175,000 adults 18–49, down 21 percent.

Fallon’s week-to-week decline coincided with Kimmel’s return to originals after a week of repeats. It was a similar story on CBS, where Comics Unleashed also lost ground as Kimmel returned to first-run episodes

Across its full hour, the Byron Allen-hosted series averaged approximately 792,000 total viewers, down 6 percent, and 96,000 adults 18–49, down 20 percent. That came despite its first half-hour returning to mostly first-run episodes after airing all repeats the week before; its second half-hour remained entirely in repeats.

At 12:37 a.m., ABC’s Nightline held essentially flat week to week, averaging 1.05 million total viewers and 125,000 adults 18–49 across five first-run episodes.

NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers averaged 968,000 total viewers, down 3 percent, while gaining 4 percent in the demo to 140,000. Meyers aired four new episodes and one repeat.

On CBS, Funny You Should Ask averaged approximately 535,000 total viewers across its full hour, down about 5 percent week to week, while declining roughly 14 percent in the demo to 67,000 adults 18–49. The show aired four originals and one repeat in its first half-hour, with five repeats in its second.

Switching to cable, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show averaged 917,000 total viewers, down 6 percent, while growing 9 percent among adults 18–49 to 158,000. Jon Stewart hosted Monday, with Jordan Klepper behind the desk Tuesday through Thursday.

Fox News’ Gutfeld! averaged 2.08 million total viewers across five new episodes, down 8 percent week to week, while rising 8 percent in the demo to 146,000.

And Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live averaged 270,000 total viewers (–7 percent) and 71,000 adults 18–49 (–16 percent) across five first-run episodes.

A reminder that linear ratings represent only one slice of the viewing audience, with additional viewing taking place on streaming services, YouTube, and other social media platforms.
