Late Night Ratings: Week of March 4, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night weekly live-plus-three ratings on a three (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

CBS The Late Show with Stephen Colbert averaged more total and P18-49 viewers than the late-night competition for the week of March 4, 2024.

CBS’ 11:35 p.m. offering averaged 2,597,000 total linear viewers and 280,000 P18-49 viewers for the aforementioned week, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s up +1% in total viewers but -12% in P18-49 viewers from what the show averaged the week before (Feb. 26, 2024).

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon took second place across the board this past week. NBC’s 11:35 p.m. offering averaged 1,307,000 total linear viewers and 230,000 P18-49 viewers in its timeslot. That’s -5% in total viewers and -4% in P18-49 viewers from what the program averaged the previous week.

Additionally, @FallonTonight digital platforms drew 116 million views across Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and X, per ListenFirst. Combined, Tonight Show digital and social content generated 202.5 million views across platforms.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!  went dark last week as the host prepared to host the Academy Awards on Sunday. ABC did not submit Jimmy Kimmel Live! viewer data to Nielsen for the week of March 4, 2024.

NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers took first place in the 12:37 a.m. timeslot, averaging 893,000 total linear viewers and 141,000 P18-49 viewers for the week, per Nielsen live-plus-three-day data. That’s -7% in total viewers and -5% in P18-49 viewers from the week prior.

ABC’s Nightline and CBS’ After Midnight split second place at 12:37 a.m. this past week.

After Midnight hosted by Taylor Tomlinson averaged 130,000 P18-49 viewers in the timeslot, second-most behind NBC, but -33% from what the show drew the previous week. CBS’ 12:37 a.m. offering also averaged 674,000 total linear viewers for the week, per live-plus-three data. That’s down -13% from the week prior, and third behind NBC and ABC.

ABC News’ Nightline finished second in total viewers (717,000) and third in P18-49 viewers (944,000) at 12:37 a.m. The program dropped by -16% in total viewers and -10% in P18-49 viewers from the week before.

Lastly, The Daily Show on Comedy Central saw a mixed ratings trend (but still stronger relative to the pre-Jon Stewart era). For the week of March 4, Daily Show averaged 1,027,000 total linear viewers and 217,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s down -6% in total viewers but up +7% in P18-49 viewers from what the show averaged the week before.

*Note: Week of March 4, 2024 Nielsen averages for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, After Midnight, and Late Night with Seth Meyers are based on four days (Monday-Thursday) since each show aired a repeat on Friday. Weekly averages for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Nightline are based on all five days of the week, as the respective programs aired originals Monday through Friday. The Daily Show only airs four days per week (Monday-Thursday). Jimmy Kimmel Live! did not submit data to Nielsen for the week of March 4.
