Late Night Ratings: Week of July 15, 2024

Broadcast TV presented live primetime coverage of the 2024 Republican National Convention this past week. This resulted in delayed start times for the late-night shows on Tuesday through Thursday, which in turn translated into audience loses compared to the week before.

CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert still emerged as the week’s top-rated late-night show, as has usually been the case over the past several years. The Late Show averaged 1,880,000 total viewers with 210,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-three data for the week of July 15, 2024. That’s -14% in total viewers and -7% among P18-49 viewers from the week of July 8, when the show aired exclusively in its traditional 11:35 p.m. timeslot. The Late Show‘s week of July 15 averages are based on Nielsen data from four first-run episodes (Mon-Thurs) and a rebroadcast on Friday.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged 1,083,000 total viewers with 169,000 P18-49 this past week, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s -20% and -16%, respectively, from the week before. Similar to The Late Show, The Tonight Show‘s week of July 15 averages are based on Nielsen data from four first-run episodes (Mon-Thurs) and a rebroadcast on Friday.

With guest-host Anthony Anderson taking reins of the program, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 1,036,000 total viewers with 131,000 P18-49 for the week of July 15, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s -10% and -15%, respectively, from the week before. Kimmel‘s week of July 15 averages are based on Nielsen from four first-run episodes (Mon-Thurs) and a Friday rebroadcast.

Following The Tonight Show, NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers averaged 789,000 total viewers with 124,000 P18-49 for the week of July 15, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s -18% and -23%, respectively, from the week prior. Similar to its counterparts, Late Night‘s week of July 15 averages are based on Nielsen data from four first-run episodes (Mon-Thurs) and a Friday rebroadcast.

Following Colbert, CBS’ After Midnight averaged 524,000 total viewers with 96000 P18-49 for the week of July 15, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s -15% in total viewers and -21% in P18-49 from the week prior. After Midnight‘s week of July 15 averages are based on Nielsen data from four first-run episodes (Mon-Thurs) and a Friday rebroadcast.

ABC’s Nightline aired five new episodes this past week. The late night news program averaged 635,000 total viewers with 85,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-three data for the week of July 15. That’s -10% and -11%, respectively, from the week prior. Nightline’s week of July 15 averages are based on Nielsen data from five first-run episodes (Mon-Fri).

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show aired three new episodes for the week of July 15 (Tues-Thurs), averaging 928,000 total viewers with 149,000 P18-49. That’s -7% in total viewers, and -9% in P18-49 viewers from the previous week.
