Late Night Ratings: Wednesday, March 6, 2024

Here’s how late night fared on Wednesday, March 6, 2024:

CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon split first place in the Nielsen ratings race on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

According to Nielsen live-plus-same-day data for Wednesday, The Late Show averaged 1,903,000 total viewers to go with 200,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -2% in total viewers and -2% in P18-49 viewers relative to the previous Wednesday episode (Feb. 28, 2024).

Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Ariel Elias were Colbert’s guests on Wednesday.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged the most P18-49 viewers for the second consecutive Wednesday (220,000) with 1,291,000 total viewers, per live-plus-same-day for Wednesday. Despite winning the key entertainment demo, Tonight Show shed -27% in P18-49, and -11% in total viewers from the Wednesday before.

John Cena, Jake Tapper, and Norah Jones were Fallon’s guests on Wednesday.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! is dark this week as the host prepares to host the Academy Awards this coming Sunday, and the network did not submit Jimmy Kimmel Live! viewer data to Nielsen for for Wednesday, March 6. The network instead aired a repeat of the show’s Feb. 15, 2024 episode at 11:35 p.m., which featured guests Lionel Richie, Sandra Hüller, and SHAED.

Hitting fast-forward to 12:37 a.m., NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers won the timeslot on Wednesday, March 6 by a substantial margin, averaging 872,000 total viewers and 152,000 P18-49 viewers, per live-plus-same-day. That represents +2% growth in total viewers, but a -3% drop in P18-49 viewers from the previous Wednesday.

Annette Bening, Julio Torres, and Adrian Young were Meyers’ Late Night guests on Wednesday.

ABC’s half-hour news offering Nightline finished in second place at 12:37 a.m., both in total viewers (629,000) and among P18-49 (76,000). That’s -22% in total viewers, but +3% in P18-49 viewers from the Wednesday before.

CBS’ After Midnight hosted by Taylor Tomlinson slipped to third place in both of the aforementioned measurements, averaging 541,000 total viewers and 69,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -14% in total viewers and a -48% decline in P18-49 viewers from the Wednesday before.

Ron Funches, Adam Pally, and Blair Socci were Tomlinson’s After Midnight guests on Wednesday.

Switching to late-night cable, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, hosted on Wednesday, March 6 by correspondent Ronny Chieng, averaged 479,000 total viewers and 132,000 P18-49 viewers, per live-plus-same-day data. That’s a solid +6% gain in total viewers and a +29% gain in P18-49 viewers from the previous Wednesday episode.

Chelsea Peretti was Chieng’s guest on the Wednesday’s edition of The Daily Show.
