Late Night Ratings: Wednesday, July 3, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon split first place in the late-night ratings race on a repeat-heavy Wednesday, July 3.

NBC presented a rebroadcast of Tonight Show‘s May 15, 2024 episode, and the telecast averaged 1,122,000 total viewers with 160,000 P18-49 on Independence Day eve, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -18% in total viewers, and -18% among P18-49 from the day before (Tuesday, July 2); -11% and -9%, respectively, when compared against the week-ago telecast (also a rebroadcast).

Also at 11:35 p.m., CBS presented a rebroadcast of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert‘s June 11, 2024 episode, and the telecast averaged 1,279,000 total viewers with 138,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +5% in total viewers, and flat among P18-49 from the day before; -0.2% and -25% respectively, from the week-ago telecast (also a rebroadcast).

Following The Late Show, CBS presented a rebroadcast of After Midnight‘s May 13, 2024 episode. The telecast averaged 539,000 total viewers with only 76,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That represents a +7% gain in total viewers, but a -25% decline in P18-49 viewers from the previous day; -3% and -11% declines, respectively, from the Wednesday telecast (also a rebroadcast).

Following The Tonight Show, NBC presented a rebroadcast of the June 11, 2024 edition of Late Night with Seth Meyers, which averaged 692,000 total viewers with 101,000 P18-49 on Tuesday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. Late Night shed -5% in total viewers, but gained +2% in P18-49 viewers from the day before; -3% and -23%, respectively, from the previous Wednesday’s telecast (also a rebroadcast).

ABC declined to submit viewing data to Nielsen for its Wednesday, July 3 Jimmy Kimmel Live!  and Nightline telecasts. ABC re-aired Kimmel‘s June 4, 2024 episode at 11:35 p.m., but aired a new episode of Nightline at 12:35 a.m.
