Late Night Ratings: Wednesday, April 3, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon split first place on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

The Tonight Show, which has thrived on Wednesdays year to-date, averaged 264,000 P18-49 viewers (a late night TV-high) and 1,590,000 total viewers (second-most at 11:35 p.m.). The program gained +44% in P18-49 demo viewers and +29% in total viewers from the day before (Tuesday, April 2) , but shed -11% in P18-49 viewers and -7% in total viewers versus the prior Wednesday’s original episode (March 27, 2024).

Fallon’s guests on April 3 included Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson with Roman Reigns, as well as Emma Roberts, and Grupo Frontera.

Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert averaged the most total viewers at 11:35 p.m. (1,866,000) to go with 227,000 P18-49 viewers on Wednesday. That’s -11% in total viewers and -26% in P18-49 viewers from the previous day’s episode along with -11% in total viewers but up +7% in P18-49 viewers versus the previous Wednesday episode.

Gillian Anderson, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Remi Wolf were Colbert’s Late Show guests this past Wednesday, April 3.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 1,537,000 total viewers and 181,000 P18-49 viewers this past Wednesday at 11:35 p.m. — third place in the timeslot. That also represents -3% decline in total viewers and -10% decline in P18-49 viewers from the day before. JKL was dark last week (the week of March 25, 2024), and did not submit viewer Nielsen data for the week.

Dax Shepard, Cailee Spaeny, and Kim Gordon were Kimmel’s Wednesday, April 3, 2024 guests.

NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers had a relatively strong Wednesday, taking first place at 12:37 a.m. both in total viewers (1,024,000) and among P18-49 (163,000).

Late Night gained +15% in total viewers and +17% in P18-49 viewers, respectively, from the day before, along with +3% and -1%, respectively, from the Wednesday before.

Jerrod Carmichael, Stephanie Ruhle, X Ambassadors, and Fred Armisen were Meyers’ guests on the Wednesday April 3 edition of Late Night.

CBS’ After Midnight averaged just 557,000 total viewers and 126,000 P18-49 viewers this past Wednesday. That’s -20% in total viewers and -27% in P18-49 viewers from the day before, along with a -1% in total viewers but a +33% gain in P18-49 viewers relative to the most recent Wednesday episode.

Maria Bamford, Jackie Kashian, and Laurie Kilmartin appeared on Taylor Tomlinson’s After Midnight this past Wednesday.

ABC News’ half-hour offering Nightline aired an original episode this past Wednesday, which averaged 790,000 total viewers and 118,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That’s up +6% in total viewers and +22% in P18-49 viewers from the day before, +5% but -15% in those respective measurements versus the previous Wednesday.

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show is being hosted by Desi Lydic on Tuesday through Thursday of this week. Her Wednesday, April 3 episode averaged 488,000 total viewers and 108,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +17% in total viewers but -13% in P18-49 viewers from yesterday’s episode, up +10% in total viewers and +29% in P18-49 viewers from the most-recent Wednesday episode.

Alison Brie was Lydic’s guest on Wednesday’s installment of the Daily Show.
