Late Night Ratings: Tuesday, April 2, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earned another ratings win — taking the No. 1 spot this past Tuesday, April 2, 2024 both in total viewers and among Adults 18-49.

Colbert averaged 2,099,000 total viewers and 308,000 P18-49 viewers on Monday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s down -5% in total viewers and -0.3% in P18-49 viewers from the previous day’s episode (Monday, April 1), along with -10% in total viewers but +19% in P18-49 viewers versus the previous Tuesday episode (March 26, 2024).

Savannah Guthrie, and Tim Blake Nelson were Colbert’s Late Show guests this past Tuesday, April 2.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 1,590,000 total viewers and 202,000 P18-49 viewers this past Tuesday at 11:35 p.m. That’s up +13% in total viewers and +4% in P18-49 viewers from the day before. JKL was dark last week (the week of March 25, 2024), and did not submit viewer Nielsen data for the week.

James Corden, Kim Fields, and the Defiant were Kimmel’s Tuesday, April 2, 2024 guests.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon finished third at 11:35 p.m., both in P18-49 viewers (183,000), and in total viewers (1,231,000). The program gained +9% in total viewers but -5% in P18-49 viewers from the day before, along with -6% in total viewers and -3% in P18-49 viewers versus the prior Tuesday’s original episode.

Fallon’s guests on April 2 included Rebel Wilson, Alison Brie, Dr. David Agus, and Preacher Lawson.

NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers and CBS’ After Midnight split first place at 12:37 a.m.

Meyers averaged 887,000 total viewers and 139,000 P18-49 viewers this past Tuesday, per live-plus-same-day Nielsen data. That’s up +13% and +19%, respectively, from the day before, along with +7% and -1%, respectively, from the Tuesday before.

Tim Robinson, Wendell Pierce, Lindsay Mendez, and Fred Armisen were Meyers’ guests on Tuesday’s Late Night.

After Midnight averaged 694,000 total viewers and 173,000 P18-49 viewers this past Tuesday. That’s up +1% in total viewers and +13% in P18-49 viewers from the day before, along with a +3% gain and a solid +44% gain in those same measurements relative to the most recent Tuesday episode.

Jack Martin, Maggie Winters, and Vinny Thomas appeared on Taylor Tomlinson’s After Midnight.

ABC News’ half-hour offering Nightline aired an original episode this past Tuesday, which averaged 744,000 total viewers and 97,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That’s up +1% in total viewers but -10% in P18-49 viewers from the day before, up +3% and +20% in those respective measurements versus the previous Tuesday.

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show is being hosted by Desi Lydic on Tuesday through Thursday of this week. Her Tuesday, April 2 episode averaged 417,000 total viewers and 124,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -40% in total viewers and -25% in P18-49 viewers from yesterday’s Jon Stewart-led episode, (an expected trend), but up +0.2% in total viewers and a solid +63% in P18-49 viewers from the most-recent Tuesday episode.

Rep. Colin Allred was Lydic’s guest on Tuesday’s installment of the Daily Show.  Rep. Allred is the Texas Democrat challenging Ted Cruz for his U.S. Senate seat this November.
