Late Night Ratings: Wednesday, March 27, 2024

Nielsen live-plus-same-day data for Wednesday, March 27 is in, and it shows NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert splitting first place.

NBC’s late-night offerings continue to thrive on Wednesdays.

After consecutive days in second place, The Tonight Show delivered a strong performance in the key demo, averaging 298,000 viewers in the measurement this past Wednesday. That’s up +58% from the day before (Tuesday, March 26 ), and a solid +35% from from the prior Wednesday’s original episode (March 20, 2024). The Tonight Show remained No. 2 in average total viewers, averaging 1,703,000 on Wednesday. That’s still up +30% in total viewers from the day before, and +18% in total viewers from the previous Wednesday episode.

Wednesday’s edition of The Tonight Show featured guest appearances from Jerry Seinfeld, Logan Lerman, and Lizzy McAlpine.

CBS’ The Late Show averaged 2,106,000 total viewers on Wednesday at 11:35 p.m. That’s the largest total audience on Wednesday late-night, -10% from the previous day’s original episode, and up +75% from the previous Wednesday’s Late Show, which was a repeat. The Stephen Colbert-led program averaged the second-most P18-49 viewers on Wednesday, with 213,000, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day. That’s -18% from the day before but +15% from the prior Wednesday’s repeat telecast.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! is dark this week. The program aired a repeat of its March 21, 2024 episode this past Wednesday at 11:35 p.m., but did not submit Nielsen data for the telecast.

NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers won the 12:37 a.m. timeslot on Wednesday. The program averaged a solid 991,000 total viewers and 164,000 P18-49 viewers in the hour. That’s up +19% in total viewers and +16% in P18-49 viewers from the day before. The show gained +16% in total viewers and +17% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Wednesday’s Late Night with Seth Meyers telecast, which was a repeat.

Maya Rudolph, Beth Ditto, Gossip, and Kaz Rodriguez were Meyers’ guests on Wednesday’s edition of Late Night.

ABC News’ Nightline aired an original episode this past Wednesday at 12:37 a.m., which averaged 750,000 total viewers and 139,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s up +4% in total viewers and a whopping +85% in P18-49 viewers from the prior day’s episode, -0.1% in total viewers and up +56% in P18-49 viewers from the most recent Wednesday episode.

CBS’ After Midnight finished behind NBC and ABC at 12:37 a.m., having averaged 565,000 total viewers and 95,000 P18-49 viewers on Wednesday, March 27, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -16% in total viewers and -21% in P18-49 viewers from the day before. After Midnight gained +15% in total viewers, but shed -5% in P18-49 viewers from the prior Wednesday’s telecast, which was a repeat.

Phoebe Robinson, Dewayne Perkins, and Guy Branum appeared on Taylor Tomlinson’s After Midnight this past Wednesday.

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show is being hosted by Jordan Klepper Tuesday through Thursday of this week. His Wednesday, March 27 episode averaged 414,000 total viewers and 84,000 P18-49 viewers, per live-plus-same-day data. That’s -0.5% in total viewers but up +11% in P18-49 viewers from the previous night’s episode.

The Wall Street Journal DOJ reporter Byron Tau joined Klepper on Wednesday’s edition of The Daily Show.
