CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earned first place in the late night ratings race on Tuesday, April 16, and gained total viewers from the week before.
According to Nielsen live-plus-same-day data for April 16, 2024, The Late Show averaged 2,101,000 total viewers and 235,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -1% and -8%, respectively, from the day before (April 17), +16% and -6%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday episode (April 9) . Orlando Bloom, George Takei, and Maggie Rogers were Colbert’s Late Show guests on April 16.
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! took second place at 11:35 p.m. this past Tuesday, both in total viewers (1,475,000) and in P18-49 (189,000). JKL shed -5% in total viewers and -9% in P18-49 viewers from the previous night’s episode, -9% in total viewers but up +17% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Tuesday episode. Kimmel’s guests for Tuesday, April 16 were Nick Offerman, and Jack Antonoff, Bleachers performed.
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon aired a repeat of its Feb. 26, 2024 episode this past Tuesday at 11:35 p.m. The telecast averaged only 945,000 total viewers and 143,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -17% in total viewers, and -22% in P18-49 viewers from the previous night’s repeat episode, -23%, and -42%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday episode (a new one).
NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers aired a repeat of its Feb. 27, 2024 episode this past Tuesday. The 12:36 a.m. telecast averaged just 597,000 total viewers and 91,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -14% and -13%, respectively, from the previous night’s repeat telecast, -23% and -25%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday episode (a new one).
CBS’ After Midnight averaged 689,000 total viewers and a timeslot-high 122,000 P18-49 viewers on Tuesday. That represents a +5% gain in total viewers, but a -10% decline in P18-49 viewers from the previous night’s 12:37 a.m. episode, +8% and -6%, respectively, from the most-recent Tuesday episode. appeared on Taylor Tomlinson’s After Midnight this past Tuesday, April 16.
ABC News’ half-hour offering Nightline aired an original episode this past Tuesday, which averaged 720,000 total viewers and 87,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That represents a -6% decline in total viewers and -31% in P18-49 viewers from the day before, -10% in total viewers but up +19% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Tuesday episode.
Nine weeks into the 29th season of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, correspondent Dulcé Sloan is finally getting a crack at a rotating guest-host gig, leading the Tuesday through Thursday Daily Show broadcasts this week.
The Sloan-led Tuesday, April 16 episode averaged 402,000 total viewers and 98,000 P18-49 viewers at 11 p.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -46% in total viewers, and -12% in P18-49 viewers from yesterday’s Jon Stewart-led episode, along with -2% in total viewers and -33% in P18-49 viewers from TDS’ most-recent Tuesday episode, hosted by correspondent Michael Kosta.
