CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert cruised to a late night ratings win on Thursday, July 25, beating its counterparts in average total viewers and among Adults 18-49.
The Late Show averaged 1,866,000 total viewers with 258,000 P18-49 this past Thursday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +1% and +44%, respectively, from the day before; +72% and +93%, respectively, from the previous Thursday, when CBS, NBC and ABC late-night start times were delayed more than an hour due to live coverage of the 2024 Republican National Convention.
Kevin Hart was Colbert’s guest this past Thursday, and Erica Rhodes made her late-night stand-up debut. Andrew Bird sat in with Louis Cato and the Late Show Band.
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon took second place at 11:35 p.m. on Thursday in both key measurements. The July 25 episode averaged 1,310,000 total viewers with 182,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +7% and +1%, respectively, from the day before; +82% and +42%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s episode. Rob Lowe, Sutton Foster, and Christian Pulisic appeared on Thursday’s Fallon. Reggie Conquest performed.
After a day off, Lamorne Morris resumed Jimmy Kimmel Live! guest host duties on Thursday, and the July 25 episode averaged 1,152,000 total viewers with 172,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. After all, “Deadpool & Wolverine” co-stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman guest-hosted Wednesday night’s Kimmel, an episode which drew a larger-than-usual audience, particularly in the demo. With Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in its usual 11:35 p.m. timeslot, the Thursday, July 25 episode improved by +54% in total viewers and +31% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Thursday.
Marlon Wayans, Bowen Yang, and Matt Rogers made guest appearance on Thursday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! Brigitte Calls Me Baby performed on the program.
