Late Night Ratings: Wednesday, July 24, 2024

Two high-profile guest-hosts provided Jimmy Kimmel Live! with a Nielsen ratings boost, and lifted the show to a first place finish among the key 18-49 demo on Wednesday, July 24.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” co-stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman guest-hosted Kimmel this past Wednesday, and the episode averaged 1,263,000 total viewers with 203,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +28% and a whopping +133%, respectively, from the previous day’s episode; +34% and +69%, respectively, versus the previous Wednesday’s episode (July 17) — which had a delayed start time in light of the network’s Republican National Convention primetime coverage. Emma Corrin made a guest appearance on the program; Orville Peck and Noah Cyrus performed.

Reynolds and Jackman’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” debuts in theaters today, Friday, July 26.

Elsewhere in late-night, CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert averaged the most total viewers at 11:35 p.m. for the third consecutive night, but came up short to Kimmel and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon among Adults 18-49.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert averaged 1,853,000 total viewers with 179,000 P18-49 on Wednesday, July 24, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -6% and -16%, respectively, from the day before; but +34% and +30%, respectively, from the previous Wednesday’s episode. Melinda French Gates, and Saoirse-Monica Jackson were Colbert’s Late Show guests.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged 1,219,000 total viewers with 181,000 P18-49 this past Wednesday. That’s -13% and -11%, respectively, from the previous day’s Tonight Show episode; +26% and +28%, respectively, from the previous Wednesday’s episode. Matt Damon, and Josh Hartnett were Fallon’s Tonight Show guests this past Wednesday. HARDY performed on the program.

Following The Tonight Show, NBC presented a rebroadcast of Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ July 10, 2024 episode. The 12:35 a.m. telecast won its timeslot, averaging 665,000 total viewers with 127,000 P18-49. That’s -12% and +9%, respectively, from the day before (also a rebroadcast); -2% and +14%, respectively, from the previous Wednesday’s Late Night.

Following The Late Show, CBS’ After Midnight averaged 547,000 total viewers with 86,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -11% and -15%, respectively, from the day before; +13% and +21%, respectively, from the previous Wednesday’s episode. Dustin Nickerson, Reggie Watts, and Irene Tu all appeared on After Midnight ‘s Wednesday, July 24 episode.

Following Kimmel, ABC News’ Nightline averaged 620,000 total viewers with 115,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +1% and +85%, respectively, from the day before; +4% and +46%, respectively, from the previous Wednesday.

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show did not air on Wednesday, July 24.
