Late Night Ratings: Monday, March 4, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert kicked off the week of March 4, 2024 by averaging the most total viewers (2,197,000) and most P18-49 viewers (258,000) in late night, according to Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That represents a +9% gain in total viewers and a +5% gain in P18-49 viewers from last Monday’s episode (Feb. 26, 2024).

RuPaul, and Yuval Noah Harari were Colbert’s guests on Monday’s Late Show.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon came in second at 11:35 p.m., averaging 1,221,000 total viewers and 209,000 P18-49 viewers in the timeslot on March 4. The Tonight Show gained +2% in total viewers and a solid +21% in P18-49 viewers from the prior Monday episode.

Julianne Moore, Lindsay Lohan, and Joe List were Fallon’s guests on Monday’s Tonight Show.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! is dark this week as the host prepares to host the Academy Awards on Sunday, March 10.

ABC did not submit Jimmy Kimmel Live! viewer data to Nielsen on Monday, March 4. The network aired a repeat of the show’s Feb. 23, 2024 episode, which featured guests Selena Gomez, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

Moving to 12:37 a.m., NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers won Monday for the second consecutive week, both in total viewers (780,000) and P18-49 viewers (114,000). The program shed -8% in total viewers but actually gained +3% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday, when Meyers sat down with President Biden.

This week’s SNL host Josh Brolin, David Sedaris, Paloma Faith, and Adrian Young were Meyers’ Late Night guests on Monday.

CBS After Midnight hosted by Taylor Tomlinson took second place at 12:37 a.m. on Monday, both in total viewers (697,000) and P18-49 (111,000). The program shed -3% in total viewers and -21% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday.

The Monday, March 4, 2024 installment of After Midnight featured appearances by Rob Riggle, Adam Ray, Monét X Change, and Survivor’s Jeff Probst.

ABC News’ Nightline finished third behind NBC and CBS on Monday at 12:37 a.m. The late-night half-hour news show averaged 654,000 total viewers and 96,000 P18-49 viewers, -9% but +5%, respectively, from the previous Monday.

On March 4, Jon Stewart returned for his fourth Monday as part-time Daily Show host, and the episode averaged 918,000 total viewers and 208,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. Relative to the previous Monday, The Daily Show gained +4% in total viewers and +10% in P18-49 viewers. However, that’s down from what Stewart drew on his first two Mondays as part-time host.

The New Yorker staff writer Jonathan Blitzer was Stewart’s guest for the Monday, March 4 Daily Show episode focusing on immigration and the U.S.-Mexico border crisis.
