Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to Make Late-Night Debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Hot on the heels of news that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will kick off its 23rd season next Tuesday with an appearance by Billie Eilish, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has announced a booking coup of its own the same night—in the form of Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Jackson’s visit with Colbert on Tuesday, September 3 will mark her first appearance on a late-night show. Her new book, Lovely One: A Memoir, hits bookstores that same day.

It’s a fitting way for Colbert to kick off his tenth season. Since his taking over as host on September 8, 2015, The Late Show has become a leading source not only for political comedy but also thoughtful discussion with politicians and others in power. Jackson will be the fourth Supreme Court Justice to sit down with Colbert on his CBS show. (He has previously welcomed Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg.)

Tuesday night’s Late Show is also set to feature a performance from Canadian DJ/producer Kaytranada featuring Ravyn Lenae and Channel Tres.

Other guests scheduled to appear during the week include Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Jack Lowden (Wednesday), and Stephen Curry and Senator Mark Kelly (Thursday).

Colbert and team are currently enjoying a short end-of-summer break. As we’ve previously reported, the show wrapped its ninth season on a high note last Thursday with a live episode from Chicago that pulled in more viewers than its ABC and NBC time slot competitors combined.
