Daily Show fans rejoice—Jon Stewart isn’t giving up the desk just yet. Comedy Central just announced that the veteran host has extended his Mondays-only hosting gig (and his role as a full-time executive producer) through December 2025.
“Best F**king News Team” correspondents Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic will continue to share hosting duties alongside Stewart.
“I’ve truly enjoyed being back working with the incredible team at The Daily Show and Comedy Central,” Stewart said in a statement. “I was really hoping they’d allow me to do every other Monday, but I’ll just have to suck it up.”
Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO and President/CEO, Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, added, “Jon’s incisive intellect and sharp wit make him one of the most important voices in political and cultural commentary today. His ability to cut through the noise and deliver clear-eyed insights is exactly what we need which is why we are thrilled to have him leading The Daily Show for another year.”
Up until now, Stewart’s future at the Daily Show had been uncertain. After a long search for Trevor Noah’s replacement that ultimately led to no avail, Stewart—who originally hosted from 1999 to 2015—returned to his old desk in February on a part-time basis and was initially set to stay on just through the election.
The Daily Show is back on Comedy Central this week for a new round of episodes. Kicking things off tonight, Jon Stewart is set to sit down wth Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. The governor was in the spotlight this summer when he emerged as a top contender for Kamala Harris‘ VP (and of course, Pennsylvania is a crucial swing state).
Chieng—whose upcoming Netflix special Love To Hate It was just given a December 17 premiere date—will host Tuesday through Thursday, chatting with The Linda Lindas on Wednesday about their new album No Obligation and journalist Connie Chung on Thursday about her memoir Connie. Tuesday’s guest is still TBD.
Stewart will also host an hour-long, live election night special next Tuesday, November 5. As of now, The Daily Show has election night all to themselves on the late-night front.
The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m, ET/PT on Comedy Central, and is available to stream next day on Paramount+.
