Two of our favorites LateNighters are headed to Poker Face. Deadline reports that John Mulaney and Ego Nwodim are set to guest star in Season 2 of the Emmy-nominated series.
Details about Mulaney and Nwodim’s characters on the show are being kept under wraps, but the news is sure to get Saturday Night Live fans excited. Nwodim has been a cast member on SNL since 2018, while Mulaney of course got his start as a writer there from 2009 to 2013 and has returned to host the show five times.
Mulaney and Nwodim aren’t the only SNL connections that viewers can look forward to seeing in Season 2 of Poker Face. In July, it was announced that Please Don’t Destroy’s Ben Marshall had scored a guest role on the series. Other previously announced guest stars include Giancarlo Esposito, Katie Holmes, Gaby Hoffmann, Kumail Nanjiani, Sherry Cola, Kevin Corrigan, Kathrine Narducci, Cynthia Erivo, B.J. Novak, and Margo Martindale.
Comedian and actor Sam Richardson—who’s known for his roles in Veep, Ted Lasso, and The Afterparty—will guest star this season as well. This will mark the second collaboration for Nwodim and Richardson, who will also appear in HBO’s It’s Florida, Man (premiering October 18).
Poker Face, which premiered on Peacock in January 2023, follows a classic “mystery of the week” format. The series stars Natasha Lyonne as Charlie, a casino-worker-turned-detective who has an uncanny ability to discern when someone is lying. Season 1 received four Emmy nominations, including Lyonne for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
Nwodim’s star keeps rising. In addition to her upcoming guest roles in Poker Face and It’s Florida, Man, she also recently starred as Steph Curry’s childhood friend and handler, Kimberly, in Peacock’s Mr. Throwback.
Mulaney, too, is keeping plenty busy. It was recently revealed that the Everybody’s in L.A. comedian will host a new live weekly talk show for Netflix beginning in 2025. He’s also set to host SNL’s pre-election show once again on November 2 (alongside musical guest Chappell Roan) before making a five-week return to Broadway, where he’ll be starring in pal and former SNL colleague Simon Rich‘s new play All In: Comedy About Love.
Season 1 of Poker Face is streaming now on Peacock.
