Hulu has released the trailer for 4×20: Quick Hits, an upcoming anthology series executive produced by Jimmy Kimmel “highlighting cannabis and the people who love it.”
All four 20-minute films will stream Monday, April 20 aka 4/20 aka… you get the joke.
In a statement, Kimmel noted, “Christmas has a whole cable channel dedicated to holiday programming. For 4/20, we made four 20 minute-long documentaries for those who celebrate with trees of a different kind.”
Kimmel previously EP’d High Hopes, a Hulu reality series about two brothers trying to take their marijuana dispensary to new heights. (That also released on April 20, in 2024.)
The 4×20 quick hits are as follows:
- “Highly Unlikely,” directed by Brent Hodge (I Am Chris Farley), recounts how Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle made it to the big screen with two then-unknown Asian American leads.John Cho, Kal Penn, and Neil Patrick Harris are among those interviewed.
- “High Times,” directed by Kyle Thrash, tells the story of High Times Magazine and its founder, Tom Forcade.
- “The Legend of Ganjasaurus Rex,” directed by Alex Ross Perry (Videoheaven), celebrates the titular, “comically dreadful” cult classic film, which was made by local pot growers as an act of protest against the War on Drugs.
- “Bong Voyage,” directed by Todd Kapostasy (The Pine Tar Incident), focuses on hand-blown glass artist Jason Harris, who after building the most well-known bong company in the world, was targeted by the federal government’s Operation Pipe Dreams. Tommy Chong is among those interviewed.
Kimmel executive produced 4×20: Quick Hits under his Kimmelot banner alongside production company president Scott Lonker. Adam M. Goldberg (America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys) oversaw each documentary.
