Jimmy Kimmel’s next project will pair him with one of YouTube’s biggest stars.
The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host is executive producing a new family-friendly Netflix competition series created by Mark Rober.
A former NASA engineer, Rober has built a massive following on YouTube and social media with his large-scale, kid-friendly science experiments. He describes the new series as a “full-on competition game show” featuring kids that will turn “learning into a game.”
Netflix released a teaser today showing Rober detonating a barrel of ping-pong balls arranged in the shape of Netflix’s ‘N’ logo.
Rober previously guest-hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2022 during Kimmel’s annual summer break and has appeared multiple times as both an interview guest and for live demonstrations of his elaborate April Fools’ Day pranks. He returns to JKL this week for an interview with guest host Tiffany Haddish.
In 2023, Kimmelot produced Rober’s hidden-camera prank series Mark Rober’s Revengineers for Discovery.
Kimmel praised Rober in a statement released with the announcement: “My kids love Mark Rober, and so do their parents. Mark’s videos are so clever and inventive, it’s easy to forget that they’re educational, too. We can’t wait to introduce one of the best and brightest creators to Netflix.”
Rober returned the compliment: “Teaming up with Netflix and Jimmy Kimmel to make this happen? This is gonna be epic.”
Kimmelot will co-produce the as-yet-untitled series with Rober’s CrunchLabs. The show is expected to debut on Netflix in 2026.
Kimmelot’s slate extends well beyond Rober’s new project. The company produces the celebrity edition of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, hosted by Kimmel, and has Love Thy Nader coming soon to Hulu. Past unscripted efforts include Hulu’s High Hopes and ABC’s prank competition The Prank Panel.
I thought Jimmy Kimmel hate Youtubers? Well, I guess just the gaming ones…
