With Jimmy Kimmel Live! midway through a two-week break, and Seth Meyers and The Daily Show both starting extended summer breaks of their own, the late-night herd is significantly thinned as we officially enter the dog days of summer. But not everyone will be sipping Mai Tais on the beach.
Here’s who’s on and off the week of August 3, 2026:
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Gone. Jimmy Kimmel remains on his annual summer vacation, while Jimmy Kimmel Live! is halfway through a two-week break of its own. The show is scheduled to return on August 10, with Anthony Anderson kicking off the final three weeks of summer guest hosts. Kimmel himself is expected back Tuesday, September 8.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
On. While the rest of the traditional late-night hosts are all gone not only this week, but through the rest of the month, Jimmy Fallon will be burning the August oil: The Tonight Show will be airing new episodes through the third week of this month.
Among Fallon’s guests this week are Callum Turner, Chance the Rapper, and Sunny Sandler on Monday, followed by Colman Domingo, Monica Barbaro, and Zarna Garg on Tuesday. Elliot Page, Bobby Flay, and the Red Clay Strays visit Wednesday, with Shane Gillis, Betty Gilpin, and Role Model closing things out Thursday.
Comics Unleashed
Gone. Both nightly installments of Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen airing in CBS’ late-night block remain in repeats this week.
Funny You Should Ask
Gone. The second hour of Byron Allen’s CBS late-night block also remains in repeat mode. Funny You Should Ask has been airing repeats in both of its half hours since assuming CBS’ 12:35 a.m. slot in late May. As LateNighter reported last week, the show is headed back into production August 11,with new episodes set to start airing in the show’s first half hour on September 21.
Late Night with Seth Meyers
Gone. Seth Meyers is off this week as Late Night begins an unprecedented seven-week break. The show is scheduled to return with new episodes September 21.
Nightline
On. ABC’s late-night newsmagazine is scheduled to continue airing new episodes this week.
The Daily Show
Gone. The Daily Show is dark through the month of August. The Comedy Central series is scheduled to return with new episodes September 8, with Family Guy repeats airing in its timeslot this week.
Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen
On. Andy Cohen is keeping his Bravo clubhouse open this week, with new editions of Watch What Happens Live scheduled Monday through Thursday. Luke Brumer and Joe Bradley lead off the week Monday, followed by Molly Ringwald on Tuesday. Brittany Cartwright and Riley Burruss visit Wednesday, with Lauren Lapkus and Gina Kirschenheiter closing out the week Thursday.
Gutfeld!
On. As with most cable news shows, Greg Gutfeld’s Gutfeld! typically continues with new episodes throughout the summer, using guest hosts when needed.
Real Time with Bill Maher
On. Bill Maher is scheduled to continue with a new episode of Real Time this Friday.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
On. John Oliver is also on deck this weekend, with a new episode of Last Week Tonight scheduled for Sunday.
Saturday Night Live
Gone. No change here: Saturday Night Live remains on summer hiatus after closing out Season 51 in May. The show is set to kick off Season 52 on September 26, 2026, with repeats continuing in the meantime.
