Dulcé Sloan Out at The Daily Show in ‘Amicable Parting of Ways’

After a seven year-run, Dulcé Sloan has left The Daily Show

The comic, who was still publicly billed as senior correspondent until today, had recently been functioning more as a contributor, making only occasional appearances on the show—most recently in mid-November.

Sources tell LateNighter the parting was amicable, with Deadline reporting Friday that the actor/comedian had relocated from New York to Los Angeles.

“There is work that I’ve done over the past seven years with The Daily Show that I couldn’t be prouder of,” Sloan said in a statement. “I collaborated with some incredibly talented people who I look forward to continuing to work with. I know our paths will continue to cross. I am now free to pursue my dream job of being a live action Klingon on Star Trek.”

“Dulcé Sloan is an exceptional comedic force and we are thankful for her hilarious seven year run on The Daily Show,” said a spokesperson for the show. “We wish her the best and look forward to watching her next chapter.”

Unlike the show’s other senior correspondents, Sloan had not been part of the show’s regular rotation of correspondent-hosts. (Since Jon Stewart’s return as the show’s Monday night host,  Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta and Desi Lydic have shared Tues-Thurs hosting duties. Sloan, whose first week behind the Daily Show desk was cut short by the 2023 writers strike, hosted just one week in 2024.)

In an interview with LateNighter’s Eric Deggans last Spring, Sloan was blunt when asked whether she’d accept a role as the show’s permanent host if it were offered to her.

“I’m just telling you the reality of the situation…that’s not going to happen,” she said.

“I’m paying attention and I work there. It’s not about whether they asked me; it’s why they didn’t ask Roy,” she adds, referring to former correspondent and friend Roy Wood Jr., who left The Daily Show in 2023 after a well-regarded guest hosting stint, saying the show hadn’t offered him the top job and he was ready to move on.

“Because if they didn’t ask Roy they sure as hell ain’t going to ask me. If they’re getting rid of all of the diversity in late night, why would they turn around and ask me?”

Sloan will have plenty to keep her busy as she joins the long list of luminaries in The Daily Show’s alumni group. A regular on the standup circuit and a published author (her memoir, “Hello Friends! Stories of Dating Destiny and Day Jobs” was released last year), she’s also a series regular on the Fox animated series The Great North, which just premiered its fifth season.
