Watch Dulcé Sloan’s Final Daily Show Appearance

After seven years on The Daily Show, Dulcé Sloan has not only left the building, she’s moved to Los Angeles.

While a source close to the show tells LateNighter that the parting was amicable and coincided with the end of her contract, it came without the on-camera farewell that was once customary for the show’s longtime correspondents.

Which got us wondering: when was she last on The Daily Show and were there any hints that it would be her final appearance?

Although Sloan was still publicly billed as one of the show’s senior correspondents, she’d been functioning more as a contributor over the past year, making only occasional appearances on the show.

In fact, her last appearance came over two months ago, airing on November 13th. Re-watching it today, if Sloan knew it was her last piece, she certainly didn’t show it.

Still, her final remote—a post-election piece billed as “a time capsule of American art and culture before Trump bans it all”—does have a certain end of days feel to it.

The piece sees Sloan touring New York City showing future generations what libraries, theaters, public parks, and schools were like in America “before our dumb-asses collapsed society.”

Her last stop on the tour? “The only place that will be safe from the nuclear war: my corner bodega. They’ve got like four layers of bulletproof glass, so that ought to do it.”

Signing off for the last time, Sloan says, “Until next time, I’m Dulce Sloan, and this was America.”
